Iron Man 2 Where does Iron Man 2 stand among other superhero sequels?

why did I know that letting people know of my list would raise questions? :o

:hehe:

It wasn't like that Venomvsspidey. I respect your opinion, i just thought that as a Spidey fan, you would've chose 2 over 3. No big deal, i loved both movies.

IM2 seems to be splitting opinion. I saw the movie friday and saturday last week with my sister on friday and my girl on saturday. neither are comic book fans or know the mythology or in jokes both saw IM and loved it. well my sister absolutely loved IM2 and said it was just as good as the original my girl said she hated it and gave it 5/10.

I'd say it goes:

1. TDK
2. Spiderman 2
3. X2
4. Iron Man 2

As far as entertainment goes, I'd probably switch X2 and IM2

Exactly. As far as the cheeziness factor, I may even put it ahead of SM2. It's right up there with those three as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't watched Spiderman 2 in awhile. I might actually put IM2 above it also as far as entertainment goes. Sm2 is easily the greater film, IMO, but my personal tastes my lean me to enjoy IM2 more.

I'd give it to SM2 for two reasons - much better action scenes and there's never a point in which it really drags. Again, I'm not a Spiderman fan but SM2 is about as good as shallow popcorn entertainment gets in the comic book genre.

X2 and Spider 2 were crap. Batman Returns was fairly bad as well. I would rate them (secondary sequels only) as follows:

The Dark Knight
Superman 2
Iron Man 2 = The Incredible Hulk
Hellboy 2
Spiderman 2 - mediocre film
X-Men 2 - would rather watch the grass grow
Blade 2 - what a waste of ron pearlman

I would say

1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man 2/X2 Tie

3. Spider-Man 2 only becasue theres really nothing else.

My favorite heroes have always been Batman, Iron Man, X-men all through my life, so im partial to those. Luckily enough they are the best superhero movies to me.

If we are ranking Iron Man 2 on overall superhero films list, then of course it would be scored lower. But I do think its Just as good if not a bit better than Iron Man 1.

Honestly, Iron Man 2 stands right at the top of all sequels.

Let the title fall where it may but IM2, SM2, TDK and X2 are all instant classics.

In my book, Iron Man 2 outclasses TDK. While very good, TDK is a one note film. It's a damn good note but one note none-the-less. IM2 hits many notes and hits them all masterfully. This gives it the BIG edge. Smart, funny, thrilling, superb CG action with great performances... IM2 delivers it all.

superman 2(for the story and fx of making a man fly pre cgi
x2(great story and handle a huge cast )
iron man2(story and seeding of follo up movies)
spiderman 2 (great footing in that universe)
dark knight (great story even better joker ...but the batman choice is as worse as clooney....sucks )

Hyperbole.

I have to agree with you on batman choice in the Nolan movies. I've liked Christian Bale in somethings, and actually his Bruce Wayne performance is OK, but his Batman is just beyond rediculous.

Honest question for anyone, does Bale's batman voice provoke fear or laughter in you? For me it's definitely the latter, and it almost makes the movies unwatchable.

Anyone ever see Kevin Smith doing an imitation of Bale's Batman? Go look it up on youtube.

No I don't think Bale should be replaced, but he needs to seriously tone down the stupid raspy voice. It just sounds like a 900 sex line pervert voice.

Other than Keaton, I thought Val Kilmer was a good choice. It's unfortunate he was cast in such a horrid movie with a director who saw Batman and Robin as some sort of erotic gay porn allegory.

Sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's not. The idea makes sense, but the execution was flawed. The real pity is that it's allowed detractors to overlook what is, for the most part, an underrated performance. The emotional conflicts Bale's Batman has to go through are far more interesting to me than 90% of other superheroes and I think Bale handled them well, but of course many people just think of 'the voice' and that's it, screw the rest. The stupid thing is that Batman only talks for, what, 0.05% of the movie.

Either way, Nolan and Bale will be aware of it and tone it down next time.

I don't think Iron Man 2 not being as good as the original can used as a viable argument to why Iron Man 2 aren't as good as the other superhero sequels.

Iron Man was a better film than Spiderman, X-men, Batman 89' and Superman. Its on par with Batman Begins but is more fun to watch than BB at the same time. Thats what makes it hard to gauge where Iron Man 2 is at.

I enjoyed SM more than IM but enjoyed IM more than BB. the climax of SM is much greater than IM and that's why I enjoy that movie more

I feel like Iron Man 2 is receiving too much credit and The Incredible Hulk received too little credit. Enough with the armored villains.

X2
Incredible Hulk
Batman Begins
Iron Man 2
Spiderman 2 - this was a lil more campy than I would have liked.

So the incredible hulk was a sequel? Not in my book.

If we're talking purely Marvel sequels, then I would put it right under Spider-Man 2. However, I would side with TDK over IM2. Iron Man 2 is probably my 3rd favorite comic book sequel.

I completely agree in TIH being vastly underrated. I noted that in a thread, myself.

Spider-Man 2 > The Dark Knight > Iron Man 2 > Superman 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> X-2.

I really don't think that X-2 is nearly as great as people make it out to be, in my opinion. I couldn't even sit through the entire thing during the last time I tried to watch it. It's pretty sad, because I loved X-2 when it first came out.

X2 is very overrated. It is a good movie, but not great. The way they write Cyclops out of 3/4's of the film is rather sloppy and insulting, and Iceman is a bad character yet gets tons of screentime AND becomes an X-Man by doing...nothing but making an ice wall. He litterally does NOTHING to earn that costume. These are just a few flaws.

people don't like ridicule. if enough people say a movie is average/poor then most people just go with the tide. I think lots of people really enjoyed TIH but keep it quiet and treat it like a guilty pleasure.

I enjoyed SM3 and I couldn't care less what people think of that opinion

I get a lot of ridicule for liking Spider-Man 3 :csad:

But, that doesn't sway me

I really enjoyed TIH, too. Very fun movie, and a quality comic film.

I liked several things about X2, but I just had so much more fun watching IM2 than X2.

btw speaking of sequels, did anyone else's whole theater boo at the screen when the Eclipse trailer came on? That was a highlight of my night :hehe::hehe::hehe:
