I bought myself a Sansa SanDisk because:
1. It was $80 on sale (regular price $120)
2. It has 1GB of memory
3. It has an 2GB expansion slot
What I REALLY don't like about it:
It came with 4 "book" samples, one of which was Lemony Snickets... that one wouldn't play.
To open the USB port slot I have to take it out of it's case, likewise with the 2GB expansion slot. That means that when I have a 2GB expansion card in it, I can't be carrying it around in it's case.
The "cover" for the USB port and the expansion slot are these little rubber inserts that have to be removed completely from the device and could easily be lost.
The velcro arm band that comes with it is too long for my wrist and too short for my waist (the two places I prefer to carry stuff). If I carry it up on my shoulder it's hard to see the display screen.
How I would Change it if I could
The USB port would have a hinged "flip top".
The Expansion port would be inside the back, you'ld remove the back cover and slide it in (like you do the cell phone prepay cards).
When it's turned on a menu would come up offering you to "play random", "open folder", "search for song", etc. (I'm sure that menu is on there somewhere, but I haven't found it yet and it wasn't mentioned in the little hardcopy guide that came with it. I haven't loaded the CD rom that came with it yet to see if more instructions are there)
There would be a FULL hardcopy manual with every option & setting indexed and easily looked up.
