I was reading Batman: Hush Volume 1 earlier at my Borders and that only pretty much re-affirmed for me how much more I like Croc as a monstrously huge beast as opposed to a strong man with a skin condition, as he was depicted in in TAS, Gotham Knight and some of the comics (such as The Joker GN, which I loved but I didn't care for Croc in it). I'm not really a fan of Croc when he's just a guy with a skin problem, for me he's much cooler and more terrifying when he's dinosaur-like and it makes him more unique among Batman's rogues gallery to me. I'd love to see Croc like Hush and in the upcoming AA game to be realized onscreen, but it'll probably never happen.

I liked how he looked in The Joker, i never actually knew he was a Black Man. :O

I agree with Drz, I think that is one of the best Killer Croc pictures that I've seen. I don't really care that much for the monster thing, reminds me too much of the Lizard from Spiderman imho.

I think that the best design was from the original Batman Animated Series. That grey skin with the messed up eyes and mouth was brilliant.
He shouldn't be a great big lizard. Just a guy who uses his skin condition to aid him in his criminal endeavours. Works better like that. Plus, incoherent "monster villains" do not work.

Ditto. I hate the gator-mouth version we keep seeing now.

^^i've never thought Batman and sci-fi mixed well either

Defenitely the more "human" version for me. A giant freak enforcer-cannibal who takes advantage of his appearance. Very cool. The dino-version isn't "scary" at all, just corny.

i always figured Batman was high or something in Arkham Asylum

I just think that they went overboard on the symbolism. That whole thing shows the pros and cons of almost total artistic freedom. Thank God that there were some restrictions and we didn't see The Joker in drag.
But Croc being there was stupid, he's not nuts. He's a normal, stupidly strong criminal who peddles drugs and provides muscle.
Not a great big lizard who Batman has to impale.

How is Croc a criminal mastermind?

"Skin condition" for me, too - it has the potential to so warp the guy psychologically that he would pride himself on taking advantage of his physical abnormality, which is sort of a common aspect, to varying degrees, among several of Batman's villains (Joker, Two-Face, Freeze, etc.).

Exactly as he was portrayed in Batman: Broken City. I like the cold, calculating murderer who is cannibalistic. He had a skin disease, but was still every bit the strong, monster he should be.

Read his first appearance.

Catwoman didn't wear a cat costume and mask in her first appearance. Two Face was called Harvey Kent. Poison Ivy had no interest in mother earth, but was trying to compete with other villainess etc.

Things change.

Personal beliefs stay, that's why the moment where you encounter a character for the first time defines your personal view.

Killer Croc is potrayed/defined best for me as the on in the Joker Graphic Novel and Batman:Broker City as a canibalistic enforcer with a skin and who works for others to get rid of evedence and is cold, murderer and gets some fake teeth to hide the real teeth. He could look white or a tannish black but looks ugly none theless

I prefer the more human with a skin condition Croc. Though I didn't mind mutant Croc in Hush, but wasn't he supposed to be healed after that? If I recall it was stated near the end of the story.

Exactly! Imagine being known as the "Killer Croc" your whole life, and acting as a sideshow for a circus. It would frickin warp you.

That said, i don't necessarily think the "enforcer" route is the best way to go. It works very well sometimes (Joker, Broken City) but i think a sewer-dwelling freak interpretation, almost like DeVito's Penguin, would be another good approach. A cannibalistic serial killer.

But no mutant monsters. A guy who believes he's a crocodile is much more interesting than an actual crocodile

I did gangsta Killer Croc before Azzarello ever did. I like my version best. Skin condition, diamond teeth, fur coat and ivory handle knives.
