Which direction should the X-Men franchise go: sequels, prequels or a reboot?

I would say prequels myself, there is enough good stuff in the first couple of films that I wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water with a reboot, but it would be hard to continue the series after the third movie. Since the X-Men's origin has never been addressed in the films, there is a lot you can do stuff with prequels, enough for a couple of movies at least.

I think you can go on two fronts. One being the prequels. The Wolverine movie looks amazing and if done right, the Magneto one can be great too. If it's more a Magneto/Prof. X story I think the movie could really sell.

The other front is a reboot/sequel route. While respecting the Singer/Ratner continuity, these movies can take a shape of their own. If a new movie came out where it was more like the animated series, that would be good. A cyclops led team taking on their enemies would be entertaining. Have Cyc, Jean, a fully powered Rogue, Iceman and maybe one or two more X-men taking on a number of enemies: Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, The Sentinels, Juggernaut.

This franchise has numerous potential if it can only be recognized properly.

AS cool as the prequels sound, Id like to see the franchise move forward rather than look back.

Too early for a reboot.

Anyone who thinks a reboot is needed should be punched in the face repeatedly until they learn their lesson. Reboots are a last resort and X-Men has not even begun to go down that road (**** about X3. It was by no means perfect, but it wasnt the end all, beat all of ****** movies like some on the hype tend to make it out to be).

I say do some prequels/spinoffs right now and maybe, a few years down the line, do X4.
