The ring didn't make a difference in that picture. It was implied to show as if he could've done it WITHOUT his ring since he wasn't all charged up looking.

I thought it was supposed to be a joke implying that Batman sucks at fighting, since he couldn't see a right hook from a pilot who's relatively low on fight training coming.

At one time Hal was fairly regularly portrayed as an extremely good hand to hand combatant. When faced with humanoid opponents who had no way to fight the ring he would take off the ring and fight the biggest foe hand to hand and he always won. In one JLA issue he had Batmand tell him he was crazy to fight a huge alien bruiser. After Hal punched the alien out Bats said he hoped he never had to fight Hal. Hal used to have a sort of motto that there had to be more to a green lantern than the ring.

So Hal is a better fighter than Batman? I can't say I've ever seen any indication of that myself, but if that's so, the scene would make more sense.

Whether he's better skill wise is arguable however he hits a lot harder and can take an enormous amount of punishment and still enjoy the fight. He is much like Wolverine in that respect except that he is supposedly at least true human.

For those who don't know, the "punchee" was getting sucker punched in both pictures. The context is the same. Bats was laying a hand on Hal's shoulder in A and wasn't expecting to get hit. Vice versa for B.

Yeah, pretty much. I like the people who choose A are saying its about time someone knocked Batman down a peg. Granted, its a fair reaction, but this is ****ing Hal Jordan. DC's The Man Without Fear, if anyone had to be brought down a peg its Hal Jordan. This ****er got a way with practically destroying the universe because he caught a cold. Bull****! People.

Not really, im really not a Hal fan honestly but this whole "Batman has to be broguth down a peg" **** is annoying. For all the reasons Batman supposedly needs to knocked on his ass so does Hal Jordan, this guy is an arrogant hot-shot who pretty much has been written to do anything and everything he wants,. destroy planets, kill people, violate international airspace and he just laughs it off because OMG! I got a yellow impurity mosnter STD! People seem to forget that the Yellow Impurity monster bonded with him only after he went ****ing nuts in the first place and no one seems to be bringing that up.

Well, you can't really blame the Hal fans for it. Hal's ****ing writers won't even bring it up in the comics, despite certain promises made after the revelation about Parallax in the first place.
