With Chris Evans having done five films now, closing out his solo trilogy in the process, which film had your favorite Cap appearance?

Keep in mind, this isn't a "Best film" poll. For example, Civil War could be your overall favorite film, but Age of Ultron might have your favorite Cap performance.

I loved his performance in Civil War but I have a soft spot for his performance in The First Avenger.

I think Steve had the most depth and character development in The Winter Soldier.

This my best Cap Performance: Civil War > The Avengers > TWS > TFA > AoU

I'm gonna say Winter Soldier since he isn't fighting for screentime in that movie and it's the film where I went from liking Captain America to loving him. All of his best scenes in it are the more personal, intimate parts with Sam, Nat, etc. And of course the "price of freedom" speech.

Civil War is a close second, then AOU > TFA > TA. Cap had trouble standing out in TA and I don't think Evans really 100% nailed the role until TWS, after which he has a very strong screen presence even in ensemble movies.

I have to say The Winter Soldier. If you did not love but at least liked the character before this film than you will love him after watching this movie.

Not sure but I am sure The Avengers was my least favorite.

I feel like Whedon just isn't that good with the character. He writes him like such a tightass, until he makes an inappropriate quip. His action scenes were much improved in AOU though, so that's a plus.

  1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  2. Captain America: The First Avenger
  3. Captain America: Civil War
  4. The Avengers
  5. Avengers: Age of Ultron

Civil War.

Cap had the most complexity there because for once he wasn't the 100%-in-the-right, cookie-cutter good guy; he was motivated by self-interest (protecting Bucky) rather than the greater good. This is a side to him that we've never seen before.

Especially in that last scene with Tony: When confronted about the Winter Soldier killing the Starks, his first instinct is to lie. You can see by the look on his face that he's off-balance at the realization that for once he has the moral low ground.

The Winter Soldier
Civil War
Age of Ultron
The First Avenger
The Avengers

Civil War. I felt it was a really raw portral of him and for me, showing a darker side to him and how protective he was for Bucky made me feel I was seeing a true representation of Cap. Although I loved him in WS, the end scene in CW topped it off for me.

1. Winter Soldier
2. Civil War
3. First Avenger
4. Avengers
5. Age of Ultron

Easily Winter Soldier. Not even remotely close.

Evans really took ownership of the role in that film, felt organic and looked comfortable. Was written well. Nor was he getting outshined by more charismatic characters / actors like in Civil War or the Avenger ensemble films. In the Avenger films cases being written poorly.

1) Winter Soldier
2) Civil War
3) First Avenger

Shouldn't even be mentioned:
Avengers / Age of Ultron

Not surprised Age of Ultron have no votes. Cap not have much to do in that one.

My favorite is TWS but I thought he was great in AOU but then I've enjoyed his performances in all the movies. The one thing I miss from the CW performance that I got in AOU and even TWS, TFA and TA was his wry humor. I think he gets one humorous exchange in the entire movie - with Spider-Man.
