Earlier I wrote this little piece for Superheroes Movie News (http://www.superheromoviesnews.com/2013/10/editorial-six-franchises-that-need-to.html) about six franchises that should or could end up on TV within the next few years. Was inspired by the recent news that a sequel to Bradley Cooper's Limitless was hitting the small screen, and along with the high quality of shows like Breaking Bad (<3) TV is the place to be, IMO.

Anyway, the list was, in order:

-Cloverfield
-Star Wars
-Dredd
-Inception
-Daredevil
-Chronicle

Some of those are a little far-fetched and surprising but I think they're great choices. But what do franchises do YOU guys think should or could end up on TV? Do you agree with the list?

Sound off.

Every superhero ever, with budgets big enough to make each of them work :)

Star Trek (I want a new series damit :cmad:)
Blade Runner
Conan

As far as Franchises go, I'd love to see:

- Robert E. Howard's Conan The Cimmerian

- Street Fighter

- Mortal Kombat

- X-men

- Green Hornet

I'd love to see all of those franchises get well made and faithful TV series made for them.

The fact that they haven't made Underworld into a tv series baffles me. A lot of history and would be an entertaining Vamp show.

If I thought it even remotely feasible, a series based in Lord of the Rings' Middle Earth. There is plenty of material to create a series from without even having to use notable characters in it.

Spider-Man as live action. Another series that might be difficult to adapt on a smaller budget though.

Men in Black as live action. The cartoon was okay but a series would probably do better to focus on new characters.

And the usual ones:
Star Wars
Star Trek
X-Men
(and any individuals they spin off, Wolverine :o)
Firefly, bring it back.

I'll think of others later.

I could see Mr. Kate Beckinsale pushing for it after the success of Sleepy Hollow.

Heroes for hire, cast terry crews as Luke cage, have it with white tiger, ironfist and she hulk.

Does a franchise need to have a movie? Because i think a tv show based on Miyamoto Musashi's life, taking aspects from both, the novel that adapted his life and the manga named "Vagabond" would make for an amazing HBO tv series

The others are the usual:

-Star Trek
-X-Men
-Matrix
-Daredevil
-Green Hornet
-Blade

I would be curious to see at least 1 season of a series based on Forrest Gump.

Child's Play or Chucky The Series.:hehe:

The others would work (budget issues notwithstanding), but how would Cloverfield run for years as a TV show? Is the monster going to attack NYC for five seasons?

Cloverfield in How I Met Your Mother-style last season where it's all viewed over the course of several days from the different perspectives of people who survived the attack. Not sure if you could squeeze five seasons with five different takes on the same event but it could be interesting to try.

Agent Carter and the Howling Commandos

Show should be set in the 50's, full on espionage and a young SHIELD organisation, as they go after remnants of Hydra and investigate the unknown. kinda like a Bourne type TV show

Limitless is coming to tv?

That has the potential to be great.

It would work best as a miniseries I think, showing the aftermath of the invasion and dealing with those small little bug things, trying to find out where it came from/what it is etc. It could maybe stretch across 2-3 seasons depending on what can be thought up. Lost ran the castaway premise for 6 seasons and stayed entertaining

Tales From the Crypt should come back to HBO.

Jurassic Park would have amazing potential, but would probably be so watered down that you'd either get one good looking dinosaur per episode or a couple bad looking dinosaurs.

Bad Boys. Now, this one could be a bit if a stretch, but with all of the police shows out there, this one could be a nice change of pace. Put it on FX. Get two likable leads. Find a good balance of action and humor. Have season-long arcs with smaller episodic stories mixed in.

Ghostbusters has had animated shows, but I'd love to see a live action series. I like idea of Matrix, too. A lot of potential with how the world changed at the end of the movies.

Men in Black, you could go the movies route with a comedic aproach, or you could go the comics route (and what i originally though X-Files was about before watching it) where you follow the Men in Black on their mission to hide evidences and handle OVNIs and the occult.

The Long Kiss Goodnight
Species
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Kuffs

my pick
ninja turtles yes I know about next mutant but I would make the costumes like ninja turtles 2
batman don't got to be like smallville or arrow but they could make it more serious maybe add comedy
super man after small ville left I would like to see tom welling come back as Clark Kent/ super man
the phantom they were going to make tv series they came out with a tv movie but it didn't go over that good. if they made it like the phantom 1990 movie or the comics
the real ghost buster I can see series different ghost buster catching new ghost every week
men in black it can be different aliens each week. not sure if tom lee jones or will smith would do it but they could go younger route find younger tom lee jones
x-men if they can make heroes then they can make x-men

I wouldn't mind the Bad Boys one. It's sad, but I can't think of any TV show that had two black men as the lead in a cop show.

Another one:

Exiles cartoon. Every episode/arc is a different world/reality they have to save.

I feel like the action figure sales alone would be huge (you get four different Wolverines, three Magnetos, two Rogues, etc every season on the show, so make a ton of "alternate universe" figures).

I want a single season prequel to the 'would-be Wonder Woman' movie on HBO/Showtime/Starz.

'Themyscira'

Start it with a young Hippolyta, Phillipus and The Circle basically seeking out and killing various mythological beings strewn over 18th century earth.
The story of how The Circle broke away from the Amazons.
And the subplot involving Zeus and Hippolyta getting closer.
Wonder Woman is 'born' in the finale and the enemity of the Amazons and The Circle comes to head.

Not the obvious choice, but I'd love for Tarantino to create an FX/AMC/HBO series set in the shared universe he's created in film. Nothing overt like a Vega Brothers series or anything, but a a modern day crime series with that Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs feel, with the occasional callback/visual cue referencing the world he created.

I actually would like to go one better on that idea. I always wanted a Bill centric prequel to the KILL BILL films. Why not a series? Anti-Hero protags are all the rage. There are certainly lots of bits of continuity from the films to explore. Bill's Kung Fu training with the White Lotus Master, his friendship and falling out with Hanzo, his relationship with Bud. Forming the DiVAS. I could even see a way to work Kiddo and B.B. into it by having an enemy of Bill's tracking them down for vengeance, even though Bill is dead. You could use Kiddo in framing sequences for the flashbacks which are the meat of the story.

Somebody already mentioned KISS KISS, BANG BANG. The ending of that film is soooooo a setup for an ongoing series. But to really get the flavor of the film to translate this has to be a HBO/SHOWTIME/NETFLIX deal.
