DKR?
Batman Beyond?
Some other Elseworld?
Your own idea?
And, why?

Just curious.

I'm only familiar with DKR and BB, but Beyond makes more sense, and I love the show. I'd say that.

I loved the Batman Beyond cartoon and I've read the Dark Knight Returns but I never really got into it. The artwork took me out of the story so I would have to say Batman Beyond.

Batman Beyond. I really wish it was adopted as canon in the comics.

I'd say Kingdom Come. He's got a system of robot sentinels protecting the city, and he wears a full body brace becasue of all the injuries he's endured through all the years. Also,
he's still friends with Supes and WW and is their child's godfather.
Never liked the apocalyptic or dying alone stuff. For elseworlds, sure, but not as his actual future.

I liked Bats in KC other than that stupid exo-skeleton thingy he wears when not in the suit. It looks stupid. I guess my favorite would be DKR, beating out Beyond and KC.

DKR is the best pre-Crisis future. I'd say Beyond except
Terry being his son, especially in the way they did it. They should have atleast made him Batman and WW's son.

Sorry, you'll have to help me out here. If DKR was printed in '86, and CIOE in '85, wouldn't that make it post-Crisis?

this might seem dumb, but i was thinking today that batman and robin should be a team, but something wrong happens and robin breaks away from crime fighting and and becomes a criminal.

I think it would be cool.

Just because it was printed after Crisis doesn't mean it can't relate to the pre-Crisis events.

I'm a sucker for Batman Beyond but few days ago I picked up all 4 of Batman Year 100 and I must say... It was incredible. I like Batman Year 100 slightly better than DKR.

Kingdom Come's alright... but goddamn if I don't love the image of old Bruce beating street punks for information with his cane. Yeah, definately Beyond.

Beyond just because it shows that Bruce is going to get old and not be able to do the job anymore, he is more vulnerable. That does not stop him from fighting though, he passes the mantel and goes on behind the scenes kicking butt and being a cranky task-master. I really waned a little more closure on the what happened with Nightwing (Dick) in the Beyond future as well as some of the other old villians.

I loved Batman Beyond. Perhaps I would suggest changing small little things but when it comes down to the choices I would prefer Batman Beyond.

I prefer young Bruce Wayne (25) just starting as "The Batman"

Um...this is about which Batman future you would prefer.

Unless you are hinting that you like none of the choices.

I choose this:

Ya but that has nothing to do with his future. Which is why I said maybe you are hinting that you do not like the idea.

How about blending the two?

What if Bruce met Terry in DKR instead of Cassie? Then, after combating Superman, a now permanently crippled Bruce hands the mantle over -- and we are 'Go' for Beyond! Only this time, Terry has the left-over street kids as an army of intel operatives, using them to covertly gather information and evidence, and occasionally as shock troops (ala DKSA) for those especially hairy confrontations.

Thoughts? Comments?

IMO : batman beyond.
Speaking about batman exclusively.
Now about the world around gotham city, Kingdom Come is good so I think a mix between KC and BBey .
I think it's not uncompatible.

Cool thread...I would go with Batman Beyond

It was a very tough choice because I love the Dark Knight Returns. In the DKR Returns Bruce was in retirement before he became Batman again. I don't think the character of Batman would quit unless something forced him to. As well as know in Beyond he ceased being Batman because he had a heart attack and was forced to use a handgun. Bruce made the high tech suit to compensate for his old age. Even after he used the gun he attempted to continue being Batman by using another high tech suit (mentioned in the episode Disappearing Inque) but it took too much of a toll on his heart. Bruce couldn't physically be Batman anymore. I think it would be a great future for the character. But you would have to factor in some of the continuity in the comics. What would happen with Dick Grayon, Tim Drake, Oracle, and all of the other characters. Dick could take over as Batman as he did in the comic book story Prodigal. Tim Drake is a possiblity but I don't feel he would accept the mantle. We all know how things went down with Jean Paul Valley? There would be a lot of questions to answer. But the idea of this thread really makes you think about a lot of things.

Teen Titans: Titans Tomorrow where Tim Drake becomes Batman.
