At one time there were stories that Harley Quinn wouldn't even be in Suicide Squad 2, that it would have Killer Frost instead. Did they realize HQ was the only good thing about SS and came to the conclusion
the only reason people would watch SS2 is to see Harley Quinn again? No one really cares about a SS2 movie, they want to see Harley Quinn and SS2 just happens to be one that would be a good fit for HQ.

Suicide Squad 2 and then branch out with Gotham City Sirens after that.

I guess it depends which is further along since we know Gavin O'Connor is on for SS2 and, last we checked, Ayer was doing Sirens. So whatever Robbie is talking about as far as working on another Harley Quinn film is anyone's guess.

But I do agree that doing Suicide Squad 2 and then branching INTO Sirens is a good option.

I'd just have Harley abandoned by Joker and recaptured by Waller, but used to help keep her best bud Pam in line, with Poison Ivy being a super-powerful plant controller. Then at the end of the film, they successfully escape and go to hide out in Gotham with Selina, since they have some blackmail material and a somewhat cordial relationship with her.

Robbie was one of the worst things about the movie for me. If they don't replace her than I'd rather just see her in a real minor role and capacity. The idea of her starring in her own film, hurts my head.

Problem for you is you are one of the few people that feel that way. The overwhelming number of people loved her, even people that hated the movie. Harley Quinn was one of the most popular Halloween costumes that year,
and almost no one went as Harley Quinn the year before. So obviously WB is going to try to get as much exposure as possible for their "it" girl. They aren't going to change their plans to please a few outliers. That economically
wouldn't make sense.

Agreed.

She wasn’t completely terrible, but there was definitely something forced and unnatural about her performance in a lot of scenes. I think her praise stemmed mostly from the overall anticipation of finally getting to see Harley on screen and also the great costume and makeup design. Plus Robbie is kind of the ‘it’ girl now.

But judging her solely on merit, I thought she fell way...WAYYY short of Arleen Sorkin.

If only Brittany Murphy had lived long enough.

Thats my thought too, however, how would they explain the end of the first SS? I guess it could be explained that it didnt work out with Joker and she was re-captured or she just turned herself in after being "bored" on the outside.

SS earned alot of money for WB and made HQ a iconic figure, but I think it was Ayers take on the characters that made the movie good. It was WB and there movie killing brilliance that chopped up Ayers story and made it anough high in the sky CGI fest movie. I remember when Ayers first said he was going to make SS and he posted an image of all the old SS comics. The man did immerse himself in the source material and got the characters right for the most part. WB should have let him develop his script/screenplay for more that 6 weeks (6 months maybe?) and hammer out a great story, we would've gotten a more complete story. But I still liked the movie and can watch it over and over again. Just let Ayer develop GCS with all the time he needs and DON'T meddle in with finished product again WB!!:o

Gotham City Sirens for me. I like Harley a lot, but I really want to see Selina and Ivy in the DCEU soon too. I'm just more interested in the idea of an all-girls anti-hero team than watching another Suicide Squad film or a Bonnie & Clyde-type romance film with Harley and the Joker.

Definitely Gotham City Sirens from the list.

Thats a people problem in my view, not mine. People will love her until someone comes along who does it better. I realize that won't happen anytime soon but that's how I feel.
People hated Leto's Joker, His costume was still very popular as well.
A cool costume is just a cool costume on Halloween.

I agree with most of what you say. Maybe, I would enjoy her more in smaller doses but she didn't sell me on the role at all. I wanna say she just isn't a good enough actress for the role but it could've been the direction she was given too. Either way, she did nothing for me.
Ya it is a shame that Murphy passed too soon. However, I always saw Juliette Lewis killing this role. I realize she's too old now but I need to see an actress who has what she has play this role. That unhinged sense of wildness she can bring to a role.

Considering ****** writing and directing, Margot did what she could. She looks the part, she's a very good actress and in good hands she'd make a great Harley.

Was Margot Robbie really that good?
Nah. After revisiting her scenes, take away the pretty face/bod and you have a completely vapid performance. I still think she has potential to be great, but judging solely on SS, it was nothing to grow attached to.

Viola and Will gave the only true standout performances.

So apparently there might be another Harley Quinn spin-off in the works, separate from Gotham City Sirens and the Joker/Harley project.

Potentially three spin-off movies in development for one character. This is crazy.

You think they're just looking at options, or actually considering going with all of them?

^Yep, absolutely, Gotham City Sirens.
