Marvel is putting together some amazing teams for their movies (lucky for us!!!). Just for kicks, which cast do you say is the better of the two?

Iron Man 2
John Faverau
Robert Downey Jr.
Gwenyth Paltrow
Don Cheadle
Mickey Rourke
Sam Rockwell
Scarlett Johannsen
Samuel L Jackson

Music: John Debney

Thor
Kenneth Branagh
Chris Hemsworth
Natalie Portman
Anthony Hopkins
Stellan Skarsgard
Colm Feore
Idris Elba
Jamie Alexander
Stuart Townsend
Ray Stevenson
Tadanobu Asano
Samuel L Jackson
Tom Hiddleton

Music: Patrick Doyle

Close, but I'm going to have to go with Thor, although IM2 has greater star power.

Iron Man 2 easily for me. I really like the choices for Thor but as far as talent goes, Iron Man 2 is loaded.

Interesting post. Yeah, I think I'd go with Thor.

Iron Man 2 definitely has the more movie-oriented, entertaining cast, whereas Thor's cast seems to be filled with actors who can pull off the Shakespearean nature of the source material, and would be more likely to act on stage.

well Iron-man 2 has the better cast iMO, also Robert downey Jr. Is vastly superior leading man than the other guy.

Regardless of who has the "better" cast, the more pertinent question is whether or not the cast suits the characters and story. No doubt Marvel got it right with both IM and TIH, and it looks like they'll have another outstanding film to role out in 2011 with Thor if this formidable cast delivers.

I'm going with Iron Man 2 solely on the fact that I don't know a decent number of the actors involved with Thor.

That is my uneducated opinion since I'm sure they're all good to great, but I just haven't seen some of their work.

i think both have assembled good casts. This is what i want to see in other films a good crew and good cast and they get and understand the characters they have and turn in a good solid film the general movie goers would like and fans can get behind.

For me, I'm genuinely excited about RDJ, Favreau, and Cheadle for IM2. Paltrow felt like she phoned it in for the first film and I expect more of the same this time. I haven't seen enough of Rourke or Rockwell to really be fans of either, although I like both in the few roles I have seen them in. Johansson does nothing for me.

For Thor, I'm automatically more excited for the subject matter because Thor is my favorite character. I think Hopkins, Skarsgard, Elba, and Stevenson are guaranteed to give great performances, and I'm excited to see Branagh, the noted Shakespearean actor/director, helm a film about a franchise that embodies a lot of the same epic yet eminently human themes of some of Shakespeare's plays. I'm looking forward to Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Feore, and Alexander, although I haven't been exposed to any of them too much yet. Townsend and Portman are all right. I've never even heard of Asano before.

And of course, Sam Jackson is in both and I'm sure he'll be good, as usual.

So basically the numbers put me on Thor's side, since I'm excited for more of the people involved in it than IM2. But I'm looking forward to both movies a great deal and I think we're lucky to have such stellar casts and crews for both.

I'm not a Paltrow fan but I actually enjoyed her in IM...

I look at casting quality from the lead actor down, and for that reason alone I'd say IM2 gets a massive leg up (hope I'm wrong, based on Hemsworth's performance).

Well, Hemsworth's an unknown. It's not the first time they've gone that route for a big movie. Sure, it hasn't worked out on some occasions (Superman Returns and the Star Wars prequels spring to mind), but hopefully Hemsworth will be an exception.

Iron Man 2 easily for me. I really like the choices for Thor but as far as talent goes, Iron Man 2 is loaded.

I have to agree. Not that Thor is lagging but IM2 outclasses them all.

Yep. Thor has definitely put together an excellent cast but RDJ, Rourke, Rockwell and Cheadle are all excellent actors. Even Johannson has some solid work behind her :-)cwink:) and Paltrow worked well as Pepper in the first film.

Iron Man 2 has more Hollywood stars that can attract people, but popularity = talent. I'd say theres a good fair equal amount of awesomeness in both movies, just that Iron Man 2 has more "known" ones, know what i'm saying? :)

Thor has more named actors, but IM2 has the actor at the right spot. Chris Hemsworth is still not comparable to Robert Downey Jr. Hopkins is an excellent actor, but seriously is he going to get that much of a screen time.

I'm so split down the middle on this, it's insane.

While I love Sam Rockwell, I also love Hopkins.

Hm.

as i said before for me i like both cast/crew so far and like the known guys i know and i am curious to see how actors i dont know do as what ever characters they are.

I can't really decided! I'll have to give the slight edge to Iron Man. Too many heavy hitters. How many Oscar-Level talents are in that film?! Thor, especially with some recent additions, is definitely not far behind.

Of course he isn't. Hemsworth has been in few movies so far.

I think in terms of star power, IM2 has Thor beat. We all know RDJ, Rockwell, ScarJo, Rourke, etc. Thor has a very talented cast filled with actors who can act well, but the public really only know two of the actors very well: Hopkins and Portman. Thor also suffers a bit in the leading man category, since Hemsworth is still an up-and-comer, although if Thor becomes a BO juggernaut he'll probably be as famous as those Twilight actors.
