On another message board that I frequent someone started a "March Madness" of superhero movies. The final four got down to a face off between The Incredibles and Iron Man.

Someone came in and started arguing in favor of one of these over the other stating that since the majority of the board was not real "comic book readers" that was why their pick wasn't doing so hot.

I thought I'd put the question to hypesters who, to my understanding, are comic book readers just to see if the results play out any differently. If you would explain your reasons for choosing, that would be extremely appreciated as well.

So which movie was better: The Incredibles or Iron Man

The Incredibles is a much better movie. Iron Man is good and all, but where quality comes in, the Incredibles edges it out.

Also, anybody who'll call into question the validity of the opinions of others based on a holier-than-thou reasoning such as "you're not a real fan" should be completely disregarded themselves as they so courteously let the rest of us know that they are unable to carry an actual debate and thus attack the person as opposed to the opposing view.

The poster on the other board is usually great at bringing up new debate topics or angles and arguing them thoughtfully. In this instance his/her behaviour seems a bit trollish, but is sparking actual discussion for the first time in the entire voting cycle. Since we are down to the final four, that's a shame. A lot of missed opportunities there.

And I agree that it is just his opinion of what would happen. I just wondered if putting it to hype members would validate or invalidate his stance (since the hype is the most active comic book board I know of).

Thanks for your vote.

I liked both, but Iron Man is my pick. It felt a little bit more serious to me. I know people see it as light hearted, but it did deal with some real world issues. I loved seeing some of Stark's own weapons being used against the people he made them for. Plus the humor in Iron Man just seemed to flow. Before I saw it I expected it to be really goofy, but the humor seemed unforced and natural.

I think that these are two far different movies. However, of the two, I'd pick 'The Incredibles'. Just an ingenius premise.

The Incredibles.

Granted they are. Since both made it to the final four, they had already knocked down movies in categories more evenly matched to their tone.

Iron Man.

Incredibles is amazing but I don't know how you compare that to Iron Man. They're a bit too different for me.

They're sorta hard to compare because one is a family comedy while the other is an action movie. But I'd go with 'Iron Man'. I still love 'The Incredibles' though.

*****eba-I mean Iron Man.

The Incredibles most definitely. I do love Iron Man, but after repeated viewings it can get boring, the only things saving it being RDJs and Bridges performances.

Whereas I can just stick The Incredibles on at any given moment and be thoroughly entertained. Jason Lee was brilliant in it

Tough choice, but I'd give the edge to IM. But I might have to recuse myself since I am a life-long Iron Man fan.
