What classic games that you grew up with deserve an HD reboot?
One game I would love to see is Tenchu: Stealth Assassin.

I'd also like to see Way of the Samurai as well.

So which games that you have fond memories of deserve the next gen treatment?

Dino Crisis or Onimusha. If Capcom made one of those games, they might just get my money again.

OH and I believe they're making another Way of the Samurai game.

Tenchu
Onimusha
Wild 9
Final Fight (we need more beat em up games)

Sweet I didn't know that. I used to love that game, multiple endings and a limited time to complete it. Tenchu would be awesome too, stealth kills. I imagine they could do it sandbox style like Assassin's Creed but in fuedal Japan. You can't deny that would be pretty sweet :woot:

Final Fight would be dope also they should do Double Dragon

Killer Instinct was a sick game Ultra combo! Orchid was my girl.

How bout an HD remake of Final Fantasy 7 with all the classic rpg action and beautiful HD graphics, I would kill for that

-KOTOR. If not a reboot, a proper console sequel.
-Dark Forces. Katarn should be the primary character.
-Donkey Kong.
-Shadows of the Empire. They should expand the missions (after all, who does not want to explore Imperial City?) and update the weapons, combat, and flying missions. And include Luke? After all, I have always wanted to play as him in Kothlis during his escape from the bounty hunters.
-Dark Forces. Return to Kyle and Jan, and jettison the Master-Teacher angle. Kyle worked better outside the Order.

Didn't they have a new Donkey Kong recently?

He hasn't really done much. Donkey Kong Country Returns was basically New Super Mario Bros for the DS. A throwback for the fans. And it was fun, but not a real modern reboot.

I'm glad others agree about Dino Crisis, I tend to see mad hate for that game. Personally I thought it was the closest we've come to an awesome Jurassic Park game.

I don't understand how you reboot Donkey Kong. Like, instead of collecting bananas and coins and jumping on crocodiles, he's fighting terrorists in the middle east?

Also I'm sort of confused by the thread. Do you mean HD ports? Do you mean an actual reboot, as in throwing away everything that came before and starting fresh? Or do you just mean a new game in a classic series on modern consoles?

A decent example would be (and maybe my definition is different than others) Star Fox. Specifically Star Fox and Star Fox 64. Zelda and Ocarina of Time had a similar thing going on. But fans insist it's not a reboot, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Basically, you take the concept, re-imagine the characters a bit, retell the story, update aspects, and give it a modern game engine.

Top of my head.

Flashback

Double Dragon

Final Fight

Streets of Rage

Illusion of Gaia (a.k.a. Illusion of Time)

Jedi Knight (Force Unleashed crashed and burned with 2, so I'd like a return to these titles)

Spider-man and the X-men (played this on SNES, didn't live up to expectations but I'm a fan of the idea of the team up and want a good take on the concept)

a new Double Dragon is coming out this summer

i would really love a new Killer Instinct game

A new Double Dragon is coming, but it's just a PSN/Live title in the vein of a parody/remake rather than a full blown store release. It looks like fun, but I hope that they get round to a serious take for a reboot that's available in stores.

Don't forget DK being played by Andy Serkis so we can get that Oscar worthy grimdark brooding DK. :oldrazz:

Reboot, remake, retelling, whatever just taking classic games that you used to love and bringing them up to date w/ modern consoles and HD graphics. That's why I started the the thread so we can be reminiscent and maybe some nostalgic MOFO will get a kickstarter going for something awesome. But it can be as simple as the new Metal Gear Solid HD or like I said earlier do a Tenchu game sandbox style like Assassin's Creed but in Japan with an all new but similar story to the first

Maximum Carnage...but with the same soundtrack.

They ruined Turtles in Time for me when they altered the awesome soundtrack the classic had.

Wow I loved that game! Thanks for reminding me of an awesome game I forgot about! :woot:

So all the old star wars games? :p

I'd love to see x-wing vs tie fighter redone or rogue squadron.

But any Dark Forces 2 remade, starring Kyle Katarn the Chuck Norris of Jedi would be awesome.

There needs to be a fantastic Avengers game. I'm sitting outside my theater drinking beer waiting for the midnight US showing.

Movies generally make for terrible games. Comics do a little better.
