Transformers Which Optimus would you have preferred?

Personally it wouldn't have mattered to me. While Micheal Bay's versions were way cooler, the original transformation sequences would've been better in the sense of honoring the original series.

I agree, it was WAY better in the movie. That robot in the youtube video doesn't look like it could have even thought about kicking ass, let alone do it.

i saw that video when that artist first put it on the net and it never sat quite right with me. it's beautifully rendered, but it's wayyy too simple. the design is too clunky and it doesn't look very mobile.

i'm not 100% satisfied with what Bay did (probably about 75%) but it's loads better than that animation. you're talking about one 3d artists' spare time work compared to a whole team of professional 3d artists' work for an official movie. there's just no contest.

I agree 100%. Keep in mind Bay had the computer guys figure out how to make the transforation from car to robot and back actually work.

The movie definitely. Although, Optimus Prime's first transformation seemed to take forever...and that is cool. But it seems like he was folding himself into himself to make um....himself fit. Unbelievable, mind you, but odd. The spin-around on the other Autobots was awesome, specially Ratchet with his backward to front twirling upper torso.

It's a literal translation from the toy.

There's another fan vid somewhere of MP-01 transforming accurately and it is amazing.

seeing bayformers optimus transform is like a taste of what heaven is like; very little taste though. but seeing optimus transform g1 style is only like a taste of seeing optimus transform bayformers style.

hopefully that makes sense. all i'm trying to say is...bayformers rocks.

I like the movie versions, but I do appreciate the simplistic design of the one you posted. I'm not a fan of the overly complicated looking movie versions, to me seeing all the individual moving gears, pipes and wires was a little distracting from the bots as a whole. I think they would've been better off with my more armor platting covering them, but that's neither here nor there.
