Which science fiction shows/properties should inspire this film?

Obviously this will be adapted from alot of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's run on Guardians of the Galaxy but are there any other properties you would like to see it inspired by?

Some people may say Mass Effect for example. Star Wars/Trek is an obvious one or maybe a particular anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion?

As for me, I'm a huge fan of 1960-70's psychedelic science fiction. It would be great to see something with the imagination of Flash Gordon or the original Time Machine.

You know, really embracing that design and the theme of big ideas.

Oh, I'm also a fan of the new version of Doctor Who especially the way men and women can enjoy it and the way it modernises it but keeps the fun.

What about you? It doesn't have to be science fiction of course.

I think the movie should be a mix between Star Wars & Avengers, with a bit of Mass Effect thrown in.

The Star Wars would be the fun & adventure of the movie, the Avengers being the scale of the action & how it's comedic. The Mass Effect being that Marvel should try to make you feel the strange worlds could be real & that you should feel really attached to the team.
Some movies I'd like to see influence this film:

The Dirty Dozen (Not Sci-Fi, but...)
Star Wars
Star Trek (2009)
The Avengers
Yeah, I think GOTG is a throwback to the days of *true* space opera of the 1930s-1950s, so I wouldn't mind seeing some retro looks reminiscent of classic Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers.
I'm hoping it's groundbreaking.

Something we've never seen before in tone and SFX.
Star Wars- This is obvious because its an enormous space epic that incorporates many species, planets, powerful beings, and future technology in galactic level warfare.

The Dirty Dozen- The Guardians, more so than even The Avengers, are a ragtag team that make little sense together. What's even more is that they are made up of predominantly criminals; or at least beings that are of questionable loyalty. This is what the Dirty Dozen is all about.
