Which Star Wars movie had the best title? Vote and discuss the titles!

The Empire Strikes Back.

Empire is a GREAT movie with a HORRIBLE title. It's like an 8 year old came up with it. It's every bit as bad a title as Attack of the Clones.

Because the movie is great, it makes everyone used to the title, even though the title is banal and childish.

Probably Return of the Jedi. Always been partial to that title.

The Phantom Menace has a nice mysterious quality to it. Some of the others are so on the nose that they're one step away from Star Wars: Goodguys Beat the Badguys.

I've always been partial to Return of the Jedi.

I think The Empire Strikes Back has the best everything, title included. It's supposed to sound cheesy like the old sci-fi films and/or like a news article or something.

"The Empire Strikes Back" for sure... you can just say "Empire" and film fans will know what you're talking about...

Return of the Jedi. I love how layered it is. Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith are great as well though.

Return of the Jedi

Empire takes second place.

I actually really love the title "The Phantom Menace." "Attack of the Clones" is by far my least favorite.

The Phantom Menace is a great title IMO, probably my favorite followed closely by Return of the Jedi.

See, if I didn't know what Star Wars was, I would argue that 'The Phantom Menace' is the best title. But because there's baggage with that title (the movie didn't live up to the mystery), it tainted my view on how it is perceived.

I'm sorry, but I think The Phantom Menace sounds exactly like what it is.

The answer is trite, but true: The Empire Strikes Back.

Return of the Jedi is my favorite title by a long shot. Followed by:

Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
The Force Awakens (I can't believe I get to include a new title in this lineup :awesome:)
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones

I don't hate any of them. Lucas always gave the titles a nice pulpy vibe and varied them very well. I'm curious to know whether The Force Awakens was always Lucas's intended title for 7 or whether he had a different title(s) in his notes for the sequel trilogy.

Return of the Jedi
or
Attack of the Clones

Both had huge ramifications for star wars fans. Clones especially, when that was announced, people were like "OH SHIZ OBI WAN TALKED ABOUT THE CLONE WARS!"

I also like The Force Awakens. Pretty good name.

^ I don't remember anyone predicting RotS.

I do, however, remember most fans thinking the title was stupid right after it was announced (some guy on the production team wore the title on his t-shirt and pulled back his over-shirt to reveal it). We were hoping for something like "Fall of the Republic".
