Which superpowered battle was better: Zod/Supes or Hulk/Veronica?

Superman vs Faora.

The hulkbuster fight was lacking in drama, choregraphy, and cinematography.

The Superman vs Faora fight, aside from having tremendous choreography and cinematography, was storytelling through action. We learned about Faora and thus about Krypton, and how she was only good at one thing and how she had confused views about evolution. There was the character arc of the military, they went from shooting at him to seeing him as an ally. We see Superman save people in a manner that isn't completely phoney and artificial like what Tony Stark did, of scanning a building to see that it had no people inside. We also see Superman defeat Faora in a way which actually makes sense: he uses his heat vision, which the story actually established is something Kryptonians need to practice, and then Faora starts choking, which again the story established is something that happens to Kryptonians with a new atmosphere.

This is truly a case of comprehensive dominance, by the Superman vs Faora fight, in every single category one can think of.

I feel like I shouldn't vote for the Hulkbuster fight because the Hulkbuster actually won which is terribly inaccurate, but the Superman/Zod fight wasn't really much of a fight scene.

I want to agree, but I think the quality of the CGI and choreography was a step down from the rest of the movie. I don't know if it was done by a different CGI house. Further, there was a lot going on and it was harder to follow.

The idea of the SvZ fight is good, for the reasons you mention, but I think it gets a lower score, on technical grounds.

2. Hulkbuster
3. Supes v Zod.


I'm a die-hard MOS fan, but I think the Hulkbuster fight was better done than Supes v Zod, mostly for its choreography and variety. But nothing beats the Battle of Smallville.

Although I think the whole thing about being able to pick and choose empty buildings while the Hulk is wailing on you wasn't great - I mean, it's the freaking Hulk, Tony should have been ****ting his iron pants.

However, the Supes v Zod battle has the best ending, because it has an actual ending - it's not, I knock you out and we're friends again, it was a true battle to the death.

Thor v Malekith was very underwhelming - Thor v Kurse was better. Shame that.

But hey, just my IMO.

Tbh even though I love MOS I'm not to keen on the Zod fight, it's OK but nothing special. I do love how it ends though,

Hulk vs Hulkbuster just bored me, the whole thing felt pointless.

1. Smallville battle. A couple iffy cg shots aside, I think it's so well done.

2/3. Hulk vs Veronica is entertaining in isolation, but it really comes outta nowhere, there's no drama behind it, and nothing really comes of it. So the whole thing feels both unearned and underutilized. But it is still really fun though.

2/3. Superman vs Zod is hurt most by it's placement in the movie, after what feels like the resolution of the conflict. So it feels like a bit of a slog right from the first punch. The fight itself is awesome though, full of some amazing bombastic shots (the camera trailing Superman superspeeding through the city blew my mind). That fight does feel really mythic as well (especially now that we've seen it from another POV). CG/lighting could be better.

4. Thor vs Malekith. Just nothing exciting there. It didn't help that I didn't care about the story at that point.

Hulk vs Hulkbuster. It had a good story of a hero, trying to save civilians and get through to his friend, fighting a monster.

Superman vs Zod is my least favorite. No portrayal of Superman as the paragon of good that he usually is, and the battle has really no effect on the combatants.

Superman vs Faora is better since that has more dynamic to it, and Thor vs Malekith is the most imaginative fight that tries to not just do the standard things. I also tend to slightly prefer fights where the combatants aren't copies of each other power-wise.

I would have voted for Hulk Vs Hulkbuster but for the fact that Tony Stark seemed quite relaxed during the whole fight maybe because he had some tricks (Veronica) but that lessened the fight intensity for me.

Zod Vs Superman.

Thor vs Malekith..

Veronica/Hulk takes this handily IMO. At least it was shot properly without being in black and white or using copious amounts of shaky cam (like Zod/Clark). Faora/Nam-Ek vs Clark was pretty good, and I think the Thor vs Malekith fight deserves credit for trying to be creative.

I also really enjoyed the Thor/Hulk fight in Avengers 1. It was brutal and up close, like Hemsworth and Ruffalo were actually beating the hell out of each other!

1. Hulk vs Hulkbuster: Its just great in almost every sense, visually stunning, creative, funny, tense and memorable.

2. Superman vs Faora: The best fight from that movie, it has a lot of very cool moments but its very cartoony a lot of the times.

3. Thor vs Malekith: It was just extremely fun to watch and it was very creative and unique.

4. Superman vs Zod: Meh nothing special or interesting about this

When I saw that scene in Age of Ultron, all I could think of was Man of Steel. I was a little bummed because comic book movies can very easily become clones of one another. And I thought those two scenes in both movies were pretty close to being identical.

It's funny that many people prefer Hulk Vs Hulk-buster (myself included) over Zod Vs Superman battle.

When I saw the Hulk Vs Hulk-buster fight and the falling buildings, all I could think of was Zod Vs Superman fight in MoS, it looked similar in some scenes.

Superman vs Faora followed closely by Superman vs Zod. The Hulkbuster vs Hulk fight was good from a visual stand point, but it totally pissed me off as a Hulk fan. Not only did Hulkbuster win the fight in a totally **** way, but HB didn't even struggle throughout. HB/Stark should have been struggling to keep up but actually got the better of the fight, which is not accurate to the comics at all.

As a side note I am so sick of Iron .man being unbeatable in the Avengers movies. He has taken on its two most powerful members in Thor and Hulk and didn't lose to either, it's getting ridiculous now. Wouldn't surprise if he beat Thanos either.

As for Thor vs Malekith, the fight followed the movie in being really disappointing.
