Transformers Who dies and why?

I read the script and found out that my favorite character Jazz dies.
Why the hell did they have to kill jazz????
The only transformer voiced by a black guy and they kill him off. I guess he was just the "token" black voiced transformer...
Kinda like in the old Friday the 13th movies where you knew from the start the black guy or the guy in the wheelchair would be the first to go.
Also why does Megatron steal the souls/spark of his opponents like shang sung from Mortal Kombat?
And optimus and megatron are brothers??? WTF?
are they trying to make this movie bad on purpose???

Even though this is a spoiler thread, there are folks here that do not want to know everything about the script. (I'm not one of them, just playing advocate.) There is a script discussion thread, you may catch some flack from the other Hypesters for starting this thread. Just a word of warning.

I just wondered why ths wasnt a bigger gripe to everyone. The "coolest" of the transformers dies and most people are still repeatedly griping about bumblebee's face and the flames on prime.

I do like the idea of an autobot dying. adds some realism.

I meant he was voiced by a black actor (Scatman crothers) and has always been known as the transformer that acted cool and hip etc and talked with a black accent. Maybe it was just the ultra badassness of Scatman Crothers but jazz has always had one of the best and most identifiable personalities of the transformers

I dont think he was. and it was a wise choice because it would have been really noticable if they brought somebody in to imitate Scatman.

I kinda hoped Dave chappelle or Samuel l Jackson would voice him in the movie. I wouldnt want them to imitate scatman but I think either of them would bring energy and coolness to the character. But then again he only has like 3-4 lines before they kill him off in a very lame Mortal Kombat ripoff kind of way so i guess it doesnt matter who voices him....
Bay will probably have one of the caterers or janitors do it.

None of Jazz's lines in the film portray his personality. I mean his first line is,"Greetings." WTf? He speaks ebonics, why couldn't he say something like,"What's happening?" or "Sup?" or "Yo?"

Why does it matter so much how many lines a character has?? When you are a giant robot with a big gun, you don't need to say much. Remember, actions speak louder than words. Is his voice important? To an extent. Me personaly, I think people who speak in ebonics sound extremely stupid.

True. But I'm betting he wants them to have less human-like voices. So I doubt we'll get redneck Ironhide, or jive-talking Jazz. Even Cullen spoke thru some sort of voice synthersizer.

ugh, that's stupid if he does. i mean it's not that farfetched that they talk with accents. they get their names by matching human words to their personalities. if their only knowledge of human culture is through the internet, they could just be mimicking what they downloaded.

Personally, if I were to make a recommendation, for dramatic purposes it would be better to kill off Ironhide because of his closeness with Optimus.

WOW.WOW,WOW,WOW. I've been lurking on this board for the last few months,and this is the post that makes me register. I know the incredible amount of whining about this movie is nothing new,it's part of the internet,whenever something new is coming(comic,movie,car,etc.) there will be a crapstorm of negative reaction..........UNTIL the said product actually appears and then all the chicken littles suddenly and quietly board the bandwagon to praise said product. It's very sad,really. It happened when the first Spider-man came out,it happened when X-men came out,Nissan people hated the 350Z before they actually DROVE one,people are so predictable. Check a James Bond website and you'll see what i mean,the new trailer comes out and lo and behold,the tide has turned positive. Big freakin surprise.

seriously though, having a certain skin color doesn't exempt you from death in a film. Do black characters suspiciously get killed off a lot in many films? I don't think so, but I haven't seen many films or really pull out the calculator and sum up the averages... Whether that claim is a load of bs or true, I just can't say.
