The thing with Woodley to me is she can act. She's a great actress. How she looks never really bothered me but I must say some of the set photos of her of scenes shot, her make up didn't look all that good you know?
I'm the same way with Ezra Miller as Flash. He is a great actor and can act. He may not look directly like Barry but he's got the acting chops to be Barry.
It's more important to me if the actor or actress can act and is a good actor/actress then how they look.
Well fanboys are always gonna nitpick about looks, but in Hollywood they have casting directors and directors who usually approach these characters more from an acting perspective as opposed to just looking at a Jim Lee or John Romita drawing.
Keaton, Downey, Macguire, Ledger, the usual guys that get mentioned, didn't look like their comic book counterparts but were able to capture the essence of their characters so I tend defer to the judgment of the filmmakers as opposed to the fans in those types of calls.
A lot of fans usually "want their cake and it too".
It has to be everything or nothing with some.
And I don't have a problem with Shailine's looks, she's pretty...but she looks like she could be Andrew Garfield's sister!
If an actor is good enough, many will overlook other things. But fans definitely want the looks aspects when it comes to MJ, because they were let down by Dunst's looks and the fact her looks weren't good enough to make MJ a supermodel. So maybe that is the real complaint?
Because Kirsten didn't have supermodel looks, the character of MJ had to suffer because of it and was written in the way she was, when she should have been getting offers from Playboy in the movie?
