Is anyone else a bit apprehensive about buying the Wii because of the difficulty of the controls?

I admit the more you play it, the better you will probably become. But I don't want to buy a launch title, then find I can't even work the damn thing and return the console within the day. And the Wii is a real vigorous console, so you could be playing for hours and your hand will get a little sore after a while.

Nintendo has gone the way of the dodo with regard to controllers ever since the Game Cube, in my opinion.

ever since the game cube??

LOL so ever since their current console? wow thats a real long time:o

What was wrong with the GCN controller? So what if it didn't have R2/L2 buttons or white/black buttons. I thought it was comfortable, and yours is the first complaint I've ever heard or read regarding it.

The buttons were too crazy. You had one the size of a quarter and another a pencil eraser. But my biggest problem is how small they are, your hands are all scrunched together. Mind you, these are petty unarticulated little peeves.

I'd have to say the same about the X-Box controller, along with the 360's. Way too bulky and the buttons resist you as if they don't want you to press them.

Well, if you think the GCN's controller was small, wait until you get your hands on the Wii's...But, eh, if you don't like it, then don't buy it. I don't mind it, so I'm waiting for Gamestop to start the pre-orders.

I love that it'll be completely different controls, meaning... you'll have to re learn playing on this system, and get used to it. I'm mainly worried about controls on Red Steel at this point, hoping that there's no lag time between your movement and the game's movement.

can't you still use old game cube controllers on the wii though...

i heard it was going to be a possibility with games like super smash bros?

wouldn't that mean it would also be compatible with other games? just like how you can use the dance mat and car racing gear to play some games on the playstation?

No, Nintendo's stated previously that, while the GCN controller will work w/GCN games played on the Wii, it will not work w/ Wii games. All the people (myself included) who are talking about SSBB working w/ the GCN controller are just being overly hopeful. SSBB will probably require the classic controller that is being released.

there was an article about it in the smash bros thread, it's quite clear in my mind.

I find the GC to be an incredibly comfortable controller. I wish my PS2 would use that controller.

My friend only has one arm, and is pissed at the design of the wiimote seeing as he might be unable to use it.:csad:

Call of Duty 3 using the Wii-mote...will blow everything else away. You can quote me on that.

Wouldn't your one armed friend have no way to use any existing controller on the market today? Way I see it, the wiimote is his best chance because some games wont use the nunchuck.

I was gonna say that too. How does he play anything else that doesn't require the usage of both the pad or buttons?

He uses his mouth and other hand. And he's he plays just aswell as you or me. Hell, I see him pwning people on halo2 on a daily basis.
But with the wiimote the analog stick is on a seperate peice. You absolutely need two hands to use it. That makes it difficult for him to adapt.

Okay, that makes sense. But if he's already a Halo fan, why doesnt he just get a 360?

thats not really true. 95 percent of all games would be using the nunchuck. wiisports nope. Especially platformers.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize 5% wasn't enough to qualify as "some".
