RLM talked about Bruce's recent work a couple of times, before and after rumours spread. As they said, no-one will remember or care about the crappy films he made recently, just the classics he contributed to in a solid career. There's nothing scarier to me than these conditions that strip away your faculties. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I hope he's happy and loved and looked after.

Understandable to have it posted in this thread, but I'm a little uncomfortable with this topic with this new information. Guess it's a reminder that we never really know exactly what's going on in another person's life.
I'd agree with that. People will remember him for the Die Hard series, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense, etc. and not the seemingly endless amount of DTV stuff towards the end of his career.

Really sad news about Bruce Willis, but I'm glad he's decided to retire and just be around his family from now on and hopefully he gets all the love and support that he needs.

I know we have all talked crap about the bad movies he's made over the years, but the man has been in more than enough great films from back in the day that solidify his legendary status.

I first saw him in Moonlighting in the 80s.
My family used to crack up at Blind Date .
He was hysterical in Look Who's Talking

This thread was fun but knowing what we do now… should it be closed? Seems kinda mean-spirited to keep it around in light of recent news.

Makes me realize that after Indy 5 Harrison Ford will probably retire.

Jack Nicholson is also rumored to have dementia.

This next few years will be tough to get through

I wonder how far gone he is. I would want to record as much video as I could for my loved ones.

I can't see Ford retiring. At least not now. He's still got some pep in his step.

I'd love to see Nicholson come out of retirement for just one more but I think he's done. It's been over a decade.

I see Ford as just a step behind Clint in the sense that I think they’re both probably going to keep up the work until they eventually just keel over on-set. I think retirement for either of them would just be inviting premature death.

I really enjoyed Looper, a more recent and less often mentioned flick. Die Hard 4 was decent to me too.

I wasn’t a big fan of Looper but I did really like his performance in it. It’s probably his best performance in the past 10 years.

THE RAZZIES rescind their nomination of Bruce Willis for worst performance by an actor after his diagnosis of having aphasia Razzies Rescind Bruce Willis’ Award Following Aphasia Diagnosis – The Hollywood Reporter
I never liked the “Razzies.” They always struck me as mean-spirited and a cheap/easy way to get laughs and attention. So as far as I’m concerned, they should own their award to Willis. And if that makes them embarrassed (in light of Willis’s condition), then so be it. The “Razzies” should be embarrassed to be the “Razzies.”

Another interesting thing mentioned at the end of the article is that they are also rescinding the Razzie given to Shelly Duvall back in 1980 for THE SHINING. They say that in light of the way that Kubrick treated her during the filming, her bad acting is due to him and not her.

The truth is we don’t know why a good actor delivers a bad performance. It could be on set problems, it could be personal life, it could be medical reasons, or it very well could be out of laziness.

So if the Razzies are going to rescind (as if it matters to Shelly Duvall and Bruce Willis anyway), they may have to rescind a lot of awards once they get to the truth of it.

Now if they’d rather just “award” celebetiries they simply dislike, that’s a whole other matter lol

I agree, when I saw the news, it made me think 'ok, that's why recent performances are off - they were either carrying him or he just couldn't do it'.. sad really as he was probably doing as much as he can, before he had to stop either because it's how he coped or he wanted the extra financial security for his family.
