Its obvious the best performances was Ian as Magneto and Famke as Jean/Phoenix. Personally, i've always loved Ian's Magneto, and he was great in this one, but because of the rushed feeling and fast running time, i didn't that much character time from him, Jean on the other hand, wow, i had no idea Famke was such a great actress. I mean I knew she was good, but this just proves how awesome she is. You can actually tell when she was Jean and when she was Phoenix, it was just awesome.

Who do you think did a better job or was more awesome?

I can't actually choose, because they both were my favourite...

Absolutely amazing performances, they stole every scene they were in!

I say Famke. She had that dark thing going on.

Yeah they both were awesome but i had to choose someone

While Famke was amazing, best performance for her yet, Ian stole the show once again.

His last scene really set him a cut above the rest.

they are both amazing. Jean scared me for real and Ian is just the fantastic actor as always...but i'll choose Ian, because everyone clapped when he got cured, which means people cared to his character. While Famke is amazing, nobody seemed that sad by her death. It was just "okay, she's gone"

They were both absolutely amazing, definately the best performances in the movie. I can't choose between them.

I agree that Magneto's character development in this one was lacking. McKellen's portrayal wasn't nearly as strong in this one as it was in the first 2.

Between the 2, I'd say Famke. She did great as the Phoenix, it was just the filmmakers who had a hard time actually making it feel epic and tragic. No fault of Famke though.

But overall, Beast was my favorite character in the film. I like how he was handled. Grammer was perfect as Beast.

I guess its not Famke fault she had no lines and no real chance to do anything that did not involve pyrotechnics, but Ian was better. The best of these were however the lesser characters. Aaron Stafford, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore (fortunately or Unfortunately--or and Grammer too) outshown the rest in their roles. They played their characters well and for the first time Shawn reminded me of the comic Iceman (although without the insecure humor). However the characters I mentioned really struck me as characters where Wolverine, Xavier, Magneto (though in brief moments), and especially Storm struck me as 1 dimensional versions of Singer's X-Men.

Magneto hands down.....although a little of sinister

Both no doubt about it, they were amazing, Ian really shines in his performance and Famke has made me love Jean more.....Phoenix was a hard character to play and when we see a glimpse of jean I feel like Logan, screaming for her to stay with us....we can make it like it was in X2, do not leave us....

But I was shocked when Magneto got cured and felt sad for him in the end until he starts playing chess ......both are great, I also agree saying that the beast was very well done....it was a most pleasant surprise

I think Kitty did an amazing job. That was how a minor character should've been portrayed, they're not the center of the movie but she helped contribute a lot .. her and beast

Magneto and Beast did the best. I don't see why everyone thought Famke did so wonderful.

Oh, and Magneto was so much more awsome in this one then in the first 2.

I love Famke... I love how one minute she would be calm the next a raving psycho.

Famke was damn good in this movie, stepping out of Singer's shadow of mediocrity and getting to play an actual character with a personalit(two actually), I still prefer Ian though.

Famke...hands down. I freaking cried when she screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :( and when she said "Save me." and I cried...this woman made me cry. Her scene with Xavier was...amazing. It blew me away. And its my fave scene EVER!

I saw it twice... in one day and I wanna see it again tomorrow.

I think she had enough lines...I mean ... just watch her expressions and man are they beautiful and scary to look at. I LOVE JEAN/PHOENIX theme. It suits Famke so powerful like. :)

I'm torn between the two. Ian has a very strong, Shaskespearean voice... and is one hell of an actor. Famke was able to portray the two (Jean and the Phoenix) so beautifully. I loved her!

But, in the end, I chose Famke.

Take care... from your friendly neighborhood Spidey-Fan!

Don't kill me, but i liked Halle as Storm the most.

Famke was the best. They (the writers), didn't give her much to work with, but she still pulled off a brilliant performance. Ian was great as always, but there was nothing new. She acted the dual-personalities of Jean really well, especially in the infirmary scene.

I like Famke. She was an excellent casting choice. She plays the perfect hesitant, slightly timid pre-Phoenix Jean in the first two movies, as she should have . . . and was good in the third as well, although underused considering the build-up featured in the previous films. To have the most powerful being stand in the background during a war to crush humanity was a mistake on Magneto's part. I would have liked to have seen Jean do more as Dark Phoenix earlier on, or throughout the movie. She was relegated to the background a bit too much to me (at least for having the kind of power she now posesses). She was where she needed to be in the first two films, as pre-Phoenix Jean was in the comics--somewhat in the background, contributing to the team, always waiting for her chance to shine. Whereas, when she becomes Phoenix/Dark Phoenix, all eyes are on her. I think they should have done more with her, aside from mostly focusing on her relationship with Wolverine. But she did well with what she had.

Ian, as always, is great. He was even able to pull off the usually horribly cliche line, "Oh God, what have I done?" (or something to that effect). I would probably have to vote for McKellen simply because he had more screentime though.
