Well until Marvel gets the rights back there shouldn´t be a sequel.
Without Thomas Jane it wouldn´t be the same and LGF doesn´t seems like interested.
So what ya think???

Thomas Jane was a brilliant Punisher, its just the script wasn't brilliant. Really in the first movie he should have really been out for blood. Not just to let the guy who screwed his family up get dragged away and him not to see what happened to him.
I'd love to see a second Punisher movie, but I just doubt that it could be done correctly.

Just have to see what happens really. Nevermind.

Even if the movie doesn't suck (which it probably will) I still would not spend any money on it without Thomas Jane as frank.

No Jane No Cash from my pocket!

Go to hell Lionsgate, I'll just play the awesome Tom Jane Punisher videogame until Marvel gets the rights back

I'll see it, as I see every comic book movie, and probably buy it when it goes to being a $10 dvd or I can get it used...but I'm not looking forward to it at all without Jane

I use to see every comic book movie in theaters, until I was slapped in the face with that crap called Elektra.

I don't know if I'll see it without Jane, but I just don't want a sequel if he's not in it.

To answer the original question I think everyone that visits this board wants P2 to happen.

Never without Tomas Jane the movie will suck

I voted never, but I want a reboot, and an older Castle.

i hope they rewrite the script...Hell have Jane Rewrite it! then he'll come back!

Dunno yet. Jane will be missed, but if they found someone who in my opinion suits the role and the movie sounds/looks good I'm all for it.

Remember, recasting did work for Batman. (Wait... No it didn't...) Fck.

Right now I don't see it working without Jane, but if they turn things around and get a decent script and someone good to play Castle, I'd probably see it. Or maybe TJ would return :unishr:

I probably still would see it just because its a punisher movie...maybe on DVD or something...I guess I can live with it not being violent enough if its dark, and gritty and if they got a actor who can suit the role...Gonna be really tough to replace Tom Jane though.

This is ridiculous. Not a sould on these message boards thought Tom Jane was a good choice or even thought of his name prior to the rumors of his casting in the first film. Tom was though awesome in the role. Hopefully by some miracle he'll come back. But don't be so ridicuously close minded (if you're a Punisher fan) to say you wont' see the film without him. That's just BS cause if the casting is decent and the trailers look good...you'll be there. You can say all you want about how you want...but you'll be in the theatre when it comes out. As much as I love Tom's work I'm going to the theatre to see a Punisher film. Not a Tom Jane film. The Punisher is the draw. Now if Gilbert Godfried is cast to play Frank Castle...then that's another story. Let's see how it pans out before saying you'll never see it. Unless you're not a Punisher fan and just a TJ fan. That's different too. Again...let's hope somehow or another he does come back but as Kurt said in his blog...this has to be more than just a simple script issue. It might be that the right script for Tom isn't available and if Lionsgate doesn't start filming this year the rights will revert back to Marvel. So there might be NO choice for LGF to go with what they have and Tom doesn't like it.

And with that statement, you are very, very wrong. I've been here the whole time and quite a few people thought this was a great move. Myself included, defending it on messageboards everywhere. It was only solidified when the movie was released. So let the fans be upset. If Lionsgate 'can' get its act together, then let them prove the fans wrong. If they cant, then I prefer them wait it out til the rights are gone.

Thats not a critique, its just an observation.

My not going to see Punisher 2 has nothing to do with me being a fan of the Punisher, but rather a show of my dipleasure with Lionsgate.

Where's your happy happy joy joy news, boss?

Jane left for a reason, and until that's changed, I don't want a punisher movie. And if they change it... Jane has a reason to come back.

^ They happy happy joy joy news was regarding the director and that the project was going forward and filming this Summer for sure. The news I didn't know was Jane backed out. LOL Still it's good if they make a great film. We can't judge it till we see it.

What I meant was nobody was screaming for Tom Jane before he was chosen. So let's just see how they pic and then see how the film turns out. If it's an obvious poor choice...then it's obviously not gonna be that good. :) We know nothing yet.

As far as I can remember, I never put down TJ being cast as The Punisher. I do remember putting down that first promo shot of TJ where he had blond hair. I just want LGF to shelve it and let Marvel do something with it. I'd rather have no Punisher sequel than a POS sequel.

^ I'm with you on not wanting a POS Punisher sequel. However let's see what happens. You don't know it'll be a POS sequel yet. You don't know the script, the actors, or the director yet. I'm open minded about it for sure as I'm a fan. As an investor of course I'd rather have Marvel get the rights back but whatever happens...happens.

We were very lucky to have Tom Jane be the Punisher. He didn't want the part at first but when he found out what type of character he was... he fell in love with the Punisher. He became a Punisher fan. We could have ended up with someone like Halle Berry. Look at the whole thing with her and Storm in the X-Men movie. If they get someone else... we may not be that lucky again at all.

I agree that we can't judge it yet... but they haven't picked a director, that Movie Hole article is based on a total misunderstanding of the Freeze Dried Movies article about John Dahl being in talks. So unless your news was that he was in talks, that's 100% not true.
