for those of you who have followed the games and saw the trilogy in theaters, this is for you. are you upset that the movies didnt follow the story lines from the games in any way shape or form. they say its important to stick to the source materials to make a great adaptation. examples of this is batman begins, superman the movie, x men, ironman and so forth. stick close to what made the fans fall in love with. now sometimes you can change the source material ever so slightly to update to fit in these times, but still stay true. resident evil the movies basically took a big old steemy crap in the face of the source materials. who is to blame, the studio, the directer or the script writers, it no longer matters. what matters is to end this crap theyve given us and start over, go batman begins style, START OVER AND PRETEND THE OLD SERIES NEVER HAPPEND. resident evil: the mansion incedent . have it be based off the first game and watch the fans of the series flock to it, what are your thought :brucebat:

I'd love them to make a great adaptation of the first game, but i still really enjoy the first movie.

I didn't much care for the movies. Loved the games, but the movies just didn't do it for me. For a zombie film, I rather they go back to the old style...slow moving undead creatures that feed on brains.

I didn't mind the second one. It's not a good movie by any means but if its on tv and im not *watching* tv i wont change it

the first one was pretty boring from what i remember

I know some people defend these movies as 'fun' but they lack the suspense/horror/design of the games.

Seriously, the games are more cinematic than the movies.

I'm not trying to be the defender of the trilogy since I don't find them to be good adaptations or inspirations by the games, but I do find them entertaining; And the Batman Begins style is highly overrated and imho not that great.

I kinda agree.

Nolan did a great job with the Batman movies; however, it does not mean that it should be applied to every movie out there.

I haven't seen the 3rd one yet, so.. What's the one with the laser-thing that cuts people in little pieces..? That was....like....alright....me thinks

I never played the games so I can't compare them. I've never paid to see any of the films, and I had zero expectations for them. That being said, I thought all three were okay. Not good films, and films I knew I should hate, but I didn't.

It's not the greatest piece of cinema ever created but it's still probably the best video-game adaptation to date.

I believe Silent Hill takes that title.

agreed.

IF you don't like the RE:USA (as i have unaffectionately renamed it) then get Resident Evil: Degeneration when it comes out on the 31st.

you will love it. Its what the US movies SHOULD have been.

I hated the first one, didn't change my opinion after the sequel, and I didn't care about the third film, which probably sucked.

I love how instead of just filling the room with lasers immeidietly, it first allows the guy to jump over one and duck under one and let him think he has a chance of surviving. Apparently the computer has a dark sense of humor.

Resident Evil is one of those adaptations that should be exactly like the source material that it's based on like 300 and Watchmen, not an adaptation like Batman, Mario, and whatnot where you should have a lot more free reign to come up with an original story.

I won't debate that too hard since I probably rate Silent Hill as number two. Silent Hill's theme song was hynotic and that was part of the appeal for me. It was also perfectly paced. I give the edge to Resident Evil though.

Agreed. Resident Evil 1 and 2 would both make brilliant direct adaptations as horror movies.

i agree with you about 95%, what a lot res evil fans don't seem to want to hear is that the games will not all translate to films, the characters and main story will do that just fine. but there is no way you can have everything you had in the game. take the first game, you take the setting, the characters and story but ditch a good load of the creatures

keep the zombies, dogs, hunters and tyrants, you start adding the spider, plant 42 sharks and the rest and it would become to much to soon and over the top

anderson had the rest idea of changes need to be made to help the story sadly he just didn't know when enough was enough

I agree about plant 42, and the sharks...but I think the spider and the chimera would be just fine. Plus if it is the RE-Make being adapted, you need to include Lisa Trevor.

The Resident Evil movies were a total disaster, and only got worse with each installment. The new animated film doesn't look that great, but it at least somewhat resembles its namesake.

Dear Sony Pictures: give me $25 million, a good cast of real actors and an old mansion, and I'll make a Resident Evil movie that will please hardcore fanboys and casual moviegoers alike. :)

I really don't like the Resident Evil trilogy much either, the only watchable film out of the trilogy is the first movie, but that's not saying much.

I have yet to see the new CGI Resident Evil movie, so I can't comment.

But like others have suggested, a reboot would be nice. Base the film on the first entry in the series. But somehow, I don't think that's going to happen, unfortunately.

The first pne is ok. The only thing keeping me from liking it more is that I'm not a zombie fan. The other two=crap.

Funny how the was successful enough to warrant two sequels with the possibility of a fourth film though. And the third film opening stronger than the two previous films.

Believe me, the problem isn't with casual moviegoers (who make up the majority of the audience let us not forget). The problem is with hardcore fanboys who haven't got a clue about successful film-making. I don't want to antagonise you or anyone else, but it's the same with all franchises. People don't seem to realise that sometimes a successful adaptation of a comic or game can't always be true to the original source word for word. What works in a comic book might not work in the same way on the screen (a la daredevil). And anyway, what would be the point of having a film that is exactly the same as the game or comic with zero deviation from the original source and no real director's creative input? Might as well get it from the original source.

I'll concede that resident evil is probably a poor adaption of the games (didn't like them myself anyway) but as stand alones, its a good film series with zombies. What more could ye want?

Umm a good zombie series that focuses more on horror and tension and less on wire-fu.
