Who here thinks THE FLASH cannot support his own movie?

Yeah that montage was awesome. I found it completely by mistake the first time I saw it and with all the talk of the effects in the show I felt it needed to posted especially since alot of people seemed to have missed out on the show completely. :woot:

Man, that show was like watching a movie every week- It was ahead of it's time, w/ all the period cars and stuff, and it was violent too.
My favorite was when he got thrown into the future and lost his powers and Pike ran the city, and the one w/ the inhalant drug and he sped up his molecules for the first time...Captain Cold went out lika sucka

If you think that then why would you say The Flash can't support an entire movie?

I think I'm gonna go watch the pilot right now. :cwink:

If Iron-Man who wasn't well known up to this point can make money and warrant a sequel, The Flash can with the right director and script.

Iron Man and Blade both prove that a b to c lister can have a great movie(even better then some a-listers)if they have the right crew with them.

Blade was never a B-lister or a C-lister.

That's why his movies doing well is a great accomplishment. His movies are proof characters don't need to be a well known, even amongst comic readers, to work on film.

What, a-listers like the Fantastic four? Agreed.

The people who made FF could have screwed up any comic franchise.

That Fox did it to a major franchise like FF is very worrying. Thank god they didn't get Spider-man. Who knows how much damage they'd have done with that. :(

Iron Man is proof the characters name is not important, it's the film. WB seriously need to look at Iron Man as an example that you don't need to rely primarily on the 'big guns' to get people into theatres, get a solid cast, good director, good script, create some great characters and the film will sell itself. Being a 'second tier character' in terms of general public knowledge doesn't mean it's a second rate film character, treat that character like one of the 'big guns' you've not only created a new franchise, you've elevated that character to tier one status, potentially reaping in tens of thousands of new fans.

Absolutely. I am truly hoping that Iron Man's success lights a fire under WB's ass. This is just getting silly.

Do you have any idea how many of DC's characters are just screaming to be marketed? Fast food, toys, video games, etc.

Absolutely. DC holds the rights to a wealth of characters - superhero and non-superhero alike - that could be a much more valuable equity holding for Time Warner if they built up the brands of these characters across the board. Hopefully some of these promising steps in the development process will come to fruition and lead Time Warner down the right path.

I just hope FF will go back to Marvel Studio, and maybe we will see a better remake years down the line.

By all means there should be a solo Flash movie, its long overdue. We've seen adaptations of Daredevil and Ghost Rider, so why not?? If done right, it could be a hit almost as much as Iron Man is right now.
So David Dobkin is the director for the proposed movie right now. What's on the guy's resume? Clay Pigeons, Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus....doesn't seem like the most qualified candidate. But he did admit that he's been waiting to do a superhero film for a long time, and on a more serious level. Its like Tim Story with FF, he didn't have much experience in the action/sci-fi genre, but he took it seriously and did fine. Same with Jon Favreau and Iron Man.
Now if only Mr. Dobkin or the attached screenwriters could just give us some more details on their plans; who they would like to cast as the Scarlet Speedstar, who is gonna be the main villain? Anyday now, I'd just appreciate more updates from them at SHH or other sites, other fans would probably agree.

I think whoever is in charge of DC movies is secretly a Marvel fan and he is letting Marvel makes dozens of movies while DC gets nothing, therefore he needs to be fired, NOW!

Comparing Dobkin to Story is not good. The FF films are polarizing at best, not one of Fox's best adaptions and an insult to the comic books themsleves.

If Dobkin can do something like Favreau's IM with it I'll be impressed, if he approaches Flash like Story did with FF he shouldn't be allowed near any serious comic book franchise.

If IM can do well in his own movie....FLASH can easily do the same.

He has cool powers and super speed....and a cool costume and a great sense of humor (wally west more than barry allen) It would be fun action packed film....and it would make money. They just have to execute it and bring in a good director with the right vision.

If they can't get Ryan Reynolds....then I think Ryan Gosling would be a great choice!

So I'm not the only one who thinks Gosling would be good as the Flash, Nice!!!

.

Mr. Story did okay, but okay doesn't cut it when there's Jon favreau's more talented shadow looming down.

The Flash totally deserves his own movie. My new gf had no idea who the character was and she saw the figures, comics and DVD of the series in my apartment and just from the look of the character she thought it was cool. Now she's watched the series, read soe of the comics and really digs it. That just sows me that if the Flash is introduced to someone it can catch on.

I think he has the strength to carry his own movie.

my lord, are they any news on the flash?

IESB: Looking at what Warner Bros. has slated for '09 they really don’t have any big films, they have McG's Terminator, but they really don’t have any big "tent pole" films. We're hearing that they are looking at projects like Green Arrow and they are looking Jonny Quest so the big question is have they - with The Flash property since you brought it up - is there any forward momentum with that? Is that going to be moving forward anytime soon?
CR: Were really just in the script stage and the strike really did hurt us, so we definitely can't be around for '09, that’s an impossibility.

Obviously not, but oh well.
