Personally my choices would be:(a) Denzel Washington (b) Wesley Snipes- he was uber cool as vampire slayer "Blade" (c) Will Smith of "Independence Day"/ "Men in Black I and II" and "Ali" (d) Taye Diggs of "The Wood" and "Ally McBeal" fame.

Does anybody have any better candidates(besides Denzel is only 53- the Panther is supposed to be a mature man -not some kind of stripling)?

Terry

Djimon Hounsou- wasn't he in "Amistad" and "Blood Diamonds" with Leonardo Di Caprio and Jennifer Connelly?

Thanks, I'll add him to the list!

Terry

(Full disclosure: even though we have nothing in common save being black men-and having the same last name- I've always had a soft spot for Denzel-third only to Sharon Stone and Drew Barrymore)

Djimon Hounsou for sure, but if I had to pick another actor it would be either Jimmy Jean Louise (The Haitian 'Heroes') or Idris Alba (Stringer Bell 'The Wire').

Look those brothas up, both would suit T'Challa well.

Chiwetel Ejiofor

I like Chiwetel, he has a very intense, but intelligent quality to him that is very much BP. Yet he doesn't have the physical presence to pull it off I think.

I can see him as Black Goliath or Brother VooDoo more than Black Panther.

Lil' Goliath? Wouldn't that reduce the person to average height?

Being serious, if Michael Jai White was a better actor he would be awesome for the role.

Gary power as Lil'Goliath would allows to grow to the height of a average sized man.

Mike Jai White? Sure, but I hardly think the brotha is up to the task of playing BP. Have you seen 'the Wire' on Showtime? Check out Idris Alba, this guy would be perfect for BP.

No, I don't have Showtime.:( But I think what you're saying is what I said, that he isn't that good an actor to pull of the role. He might have the body and the moves but his acting leaves a lot to be desired at least from what I've seen of his big screen movies. Morgan Freeman should definitely play some kind of role in the Council or maybe as a flashback to his father.

Anthony Anderson for Man-Ape.:o

I like Chiwetel O. Bulk him up with some trainings. He already knows some martial arts moves (Firefly) and I like to see an intellegent, serene face more in BP than an angry, repressed face whose Djimon usually exhibits.

Hounsou is top billed for me, then the Hatian (I'm horrible with actors names).

Anthony heh! Nah! Flavor Flav as Achebe!

Morgan Freeman should have a role in every movie, he is a god among men.

I'd take Chiwetel as T'Challa don't get me wrong, hell he's a great actor, but he's not what I envision BP to look like. Actually Wesley Snipes is what I think of when I think BP, but he's too known as Blade now.

Djimon has a kind face, guy got a wise stoic look about him. Check out 'In America' he's damn got in that movie. I want someone with a strong African features to play BlackPanther and what's better than a Academy nominated actor whos actual African?

he can play T'Chaka.

Works for me, dye his hair black and get him in the gym Morgan could pull it off.

Actually I think it would be cool if Morgan was the voice of the Panther God, maybe he narrates the movie telling the history of the Black Panthers.

Whatever..Morgan needs to be in the movie.

snipes is getting a bit old too.
It would be nice if they could find some young guy who was a good fit. However Hollywood seems to enjoy putting people in roles just to impress fools.

Snipes could be T'Chaka if he's 'too old' either way he's been a major cheerleader for this movie to get made and his presence whether it's a cameo or a flashback as Poppa Panther, he would make a fine BP regardless of age. Mind you the title of Black Panther is a responsibility handed from father to son, son Snipes could still be BP just not the current one.

Hell a great cameo for him would be if the movie began with a prolouge of Wakanda 500 - 1000 yrs ago (With Morgan Freeman's narrative of course, telling the audience the history of the Black Panther.) in a seemingly humble african village showing it being invaded by another tribe, then you see a primal warrior clothed in the hide of a panther, covered in black chalk war paint (It's Wesley F--kin Snipes!!) standing his ground then cut to him whooping the living snot out of the interlopers, fade to him surrounded by lifeless bodies and the camera follows him as he walks over a hill introducing us to the wonderous city below. Tribal music plays (Theme music/score) the Marvel Logo rolls on screen! and bam!!! the story starts.

Too easy Snipes could be in this movie any number of ways. At least as a homage or nod to the guy for being effin' Wesley Snipes.
