The Flash, especially as we've seen the character played by Ezra, lends itself to comedy/light-heartedness. If they're, in fact, in the mix, the thing is less avoiding comedy and more making sure everyone is on the same page before deciding to roll film.

Hiring the guys behind the Jump Street movies and The Lego Movie and then being like "COMEDY???" is a little...

    Agreed. Lucasfilm was stupid...

I dont want the Flash to be anything like the Jump Street movies. I am all for comedy but not stupid comedy.

They can do serious when they want to, as was shown in the Lego movie at times. And Last Man on Earth gets pretty dark when need be. It just varies. It's like James Gunn, he was known as the guy that did campy horror and wrote the goddamn Scooby Doo movie.

Yes but the rumors are that they were turning the Han Solo movie into a screwball comedy like 22 Jump Street which is why they got canned. Now I dont care cause I have zero interest in a Han Solo prequel but even I can tell you that is a horrible idea.

The flash should be fun and goofy, but if you go too far with it it will ruin the movie.

I wonder who Flash would bounce off if it was a screwball comedy? Would they bring in Vibe and Snow again or instantly add Wally?

Vibe and Killer Frost are add ons via the show but are not "Flash" supporting characters in the least in the comics and if that has changed it's purely because of the show. Besides, Barry in the films shouldn't need the unnecessary STAR LABS group eating up screen time and character development. As popular as some think the show is, there are many MANY who don't want the movie to take any cues from the TV show.

The Flash the TV show is an ensemble because that's what TV is now and you can't expect it all to be 100% Barry, 22-24 episodes a year/9-10 months out of the year without Gustin crumbling from exhaustion. There's no particular reason for The Flash of film to have a team he leans on that much.

Yeah I know but every character needs a supporting cast. I think they added frost and vibe to flash because he doesn't really have a consistent one except Iris

Basically Flash has Iris and maybe a couple cops on the squad. The humor I think will come a lot from the rogues and how they act like pretty much a bunch of disgruntled coworkers.

Yeah, that's definitely what I'd expect if Lord & Miller were back.
I figured it could also be a globe trotting movie wherein he's chatting it up with random strangers.

The question now is will WB want the potential issues that could arise based on these reports, and will these SOLO issues turn into another negative "narrative" if they come aboard THE FLASH. The DCEU doesn't need another production surrounded by iffy PR.

They should consider doing Blue beetle and Booster gold and allow miller and lord to do that. Not that they cant successfully do flash.

I'm honestly bummed out that the Solo falling out may have put them at odds with Disney.

I'd love to see them work on Flash, it's a perfect fit, but L&M on Spider-Man would have been a nerd dream come true.

I mean it wouldn't hurt to at least bring them in for a meeting and hear what they have to say. And if it doesn't mesh with what Geoff Johns wants to do, then thank them for stopping by.

They have three well-regarded films under their belt. I don't think clashing with Kathleen Kennedy on what they thought would be best to do with a SW spinoff means that they're lepers now or anything.

They're not Trank. Hell, they're probably in better shape than Trevorrow, even if he's still in place...

Lord and Miller didn't have issues with WB and Sony, and Disney/SW is having their hands all over Edward last year, and Lord/Miller this year, so I don't see any negative PR for WB/Lord/Miller right now, Disney's the one trying to rescue the narratives right now.

I don't think L&M coming aboard to helm FLASH could honestly, and that's the key word, honestly, be framed as some kind of negative given their past successes. I think the SOLO film thing has blame to go all around in terms of how it came to a head the way it did. But if they got attached to FLASH tomorrow I can't see how that's anything but a positive for a film that has had a bumpy road since L&M went off to do SOLO. If anything it could be spun into a really positive story about creators coming back to a project they started and bringing it to life.

In the real world away from the hothouse opinion farms of the Internet, even Trank isn't the Trank caricatured around here, his real problems with substance abuse notwithstanding. He's already announced his next project, which has Tom Hardy attached (that ****er is turning into the Rock these days) to play Al Capone during his last days.

It's interesting the sort of blind faith some give these companies when you really look at the behind the scenes drama that has occurred in the worlds of both LUCASFILM and MARVEL STUDIOS.

Well part of that is that clickbait seems to focus their eye on select projects and studios and leave some be. They would never dare go after Star Wars (even the Rogue One rumors never got as bad as stuff we have seen for other movies) because the cost is too high. You dont want to be left out in the cold when Episode VIII comes around...

It wouldnt be negative if L&M took the job, hell I would love it. Both sides just need to be clear what the vision is.

So just to recap, the directors that are supposedly in the mix are:

    Matthew Vaughn
    Phil Lord and Chris Miller
    Robert Zemeckis
    Sam Raimi
