Kevin Feige has long stated that he wants to do a marvel cosmic epic. The appearance of the infinity gauntlet at comiccon makes what at first seemed like studio head jaw flapping seem very plausible.

The problem is Marvel's most famous cosmic character is with a different film company; with FOX still holding the rights to Silver Surfer as a part of their F4 package, Marvel Studios would need to come up with a different protagonist for this proposed film.

Who would you like to see as the main hero in a marvel cosmic movie?

I think guardians of the galaxy just for the fact that realistically speaking all are great characters, but if they made Nova it would come off as a Green Lantern copy, Captain Marvel/Mar-Vell vs. Captain Marvel/Shazam seems confusing (of course they can stick to Mar-Vell, but still, the general public would going "huh, what". It's like the Shield vs. Captain America), Quasar & Adam Warlock could work. I'm kinda iffy on Warlock, because even though they're very different the general public would be able to tell the difference between Adam Strange. They think Adam/space vs. Adam/space. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but still...

Plus team movies are all the rage. Avengers is coming, X-Men are starting over, the runaways last I remember was in the pipeline, eventually DC will head to team movie ville, so I could actually buy G.O.T.G being made first. I would say Surfer, but as you pointed out Fox still has the rights (why marvel couldn't get it back like they did punisher from lion's gate I don't know).

I just want to see Groot on the big screen.

Nova is the perfect vessel for the general audience to be introduced to the cosmic world

Nova could be good no doubt, but still my thing is the origin. It's still pretty close to green lantern. I would love to see Nova on screen, but honestly the origin has to stay. They need to keep as faithful to the character as possible, so similar or not they need to keep it. However, the script needs to be really good, they can't just really on his powers to show a difference between the two.

I think Guardians of the Galaxy would be the most fun.

It would take a fertile mind to do the characters/story justice.

I can't decide. Nova would be good, but he might seem like a GL knockoff (especially these days). If Captain Marvel shows up in an Avengers sequel, they could launch a spinoff.

Exactly my point, but still if they do it they have to have it accurate. If they don't it kinda defeats the purpose of having their own studio, imo. I like your idea for Captain Marvel.

I wonder IF the Surfer is part of the FF package.

I know Fox had the rights to him long before the FF and Fox decided it worked out better for them that he was included/introduced in the second FF movie.

I think there may be a slim chance that Marvel could get SS back regardless of the status of the FF.

This is true, but as it was brought up in the punisher thread, Fox really wouldn't give up one of their properties. Case in point FF:Reborn is in the pipeline, so there's money to be made which most likely means they'll keep them and just when time comes to lose the rights they'll rush into production, leaving us with another war zone situation. Case in point, despite the quality of the work Sony is moving ahead with Ghost Rider 2.

Nova is a bit too much of GL rip for my taste; I'd go with Captain Marvel. He's the original marvel cosmic hero.

I would go with Nova or Adam Warlock,Captain Marvel's appearance leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Whoops I confused Marvel's Captain Marvel for DC's Captain Marvel.

I'd go with Nova. I'd slightly twist his origin to make it not so much of a GL rip-off (The one non- Bat/Super movie DC does is GL, right before there's a chance for Nova! :cmad:)

Nova. If changing the origin's the only problem, then I don't see a huge issue with tweaking the origin to make it look less like GL.

cause GL is their only other good character. :hehe:

Would have to be Nova, and I just hope to god we get an Annihilation movie trilogy sometime soon.

Absolutely Captain Marvel. Flash Gordon plus Superman - that's a movie-!

marvel should do a captain marvel before dc does. nova would be awsome though. i wish marvel had the silver surfers rights.

Nova would be awesome.

But seeing as Quasar has a bit more history with the Avengers from the comics than Rich, i think Quasar would be a safer bet.
