Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

I can totally picture Michael Keaton playing the Vulture in this movie. When I heard his name, I immediately thought he's probably playing Vulture. I'm glad because I've been wanting to see the Vulture on the big screen.

I really hope Kingpin appears in one of these movies. He's one character from the TV universe that needs to be in the movies.

I think Vulture and Chameleon would be the easiest characters to tie to the rest of the MCU.

Keaton is not my 1st pick to play Toomes...really not my 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. That's not to say he's not a proven good actor....he's not the casting type I was hoping for, in Toomes/Vulture.

He's like Natalie Portman as Jane...just don't fit that particular part, the way I see it, imho...if he's indeed cast as Toomes.

With all the advances in technology these days, there must surely have been a way to have Jenny Agutter remove the "mask" and show ScarJo's face underneath without her having to turn her head away like that but looking straight ahead the whole time.

He's 64. If he's Harry Osborn's dad and Harry is a classmate of Peter, it would mean he would have been about fifty when he had Harry. That doesn't seem old to you?

This. If Marvel have already reasoned that they don't want an old Aunt May in her 60s or more as an aunt of a 15-16 year old boy, then why would they now do that with Harry's father? At most, I think they'll have someone around RDJ's/ Marisa's age of 50.

Matthew McCoungahey Norman Osborne rumours I would believe.

Keaton is a bit too old. That said, he's too great an actor and too big a casting to only feature in one film. I think he'll play a villain with a lasting presence, probably not Norman though.

Off-topic, but I remember when Jenny let slip about Spidey turning up in The Avengers back in 2012...

Funny how these coincidences turn out :hmm

Is Keaton a better actor than, or bigger than someone like Robert Redford? Or Ben Kingsley? Or Jeff Bridges? Did they feature in more than one film with a lasting presence?

Think of the Sinister 6. Vulture could be a recurring villain. Or think of Robert Redford, he was "too big and great to only feature in one film" We'll see, I'm not 100% sure he's Toomes just yet.

Even in Batman 1989, which Keaton was in, Jack Nicholson was a big actor at the time who played the Joker. He didn't stick around for more than one film. Sometimes they'll cast a big actor in a villain role to elevate it, but they're not meant to be recurring. This is exactly what happened with Redford.

Keaton could be the Vulture, to lend a sense of gravitas to the role, but he doesn't need to be a big villain like Osborn. And he could show up again anyway if he doesn't die.

Okay. Everyone tell me what you think is lame about Vulture and I'll give you 3 ways Marvel can fix that. Maybe more.

I know, right? He's not anymore lame than Mysterio :funny: I actually think he's less.

Nah. I love how Mysterio can **** with the mind.

Vulture... what in the seven hells of Hell is he supposed to be, exactly? Never understood the love for that character.

Mind, I loved the epic fight you have with him in the Web of Shadows game.

Some would argue he's a poor man's Green Goblin and he's played for jokes A. LOT. I hope Keaton makes Vulture a badass and more serious/menacing.

Exactly and Mysterio, Kraven and Vulture have one thing in common. Their all human. In a normal hand to hand fight. Spidey would knock them out in a single punch. But their tech/weapons and skill allows them to be threats.

Vulture has the advantage in an arial battle. As its hard to aim in mid air. And theres the danger of Vultures wings cutting his webs and Peter going splat.
Mysterio forces Peter to not be able to rely on sight. He has to learn to use other senses.
Kraven forces Peter to outthink and not just out muscle due to his skill in hunting.

All three of those villains has something that makes them a threat. Thats why their some of Spideys most known villains.

Exactly right, not to mention these were the first villains Spidey faced in the comics!

Do people consider Falcon lame? Maybe people might have before he appeared in the MCU. Why would Vulture be any more lame than Falcon, especially if they tie it into the same tech? He could even have a more advanced, superior version of what Sam Wilson is using, making him more of a deadly threat.

And Wilson, being good, may not use the Falcon technology to its full deadly potential, whereas Toomes might not have any qualms about hurting innocent civilians with all of its weaponry.

Fair enough, but I would prefer it if Keaton wasn't a single-film character.
