of all the Marvel characters Captain America seems to me to be the one that needs the most memorable theme music. he's pretty much Marvels version of Superman(minus the powers), and Superman had a great theme that everyone knows and when you hear it you just think "wow this is for a hero." granted i don't know much about Cap, plus im Canadian so im not patriotic about America and spidey is my favorite, but from what i do know is that like superman, this guy is important. if Superman didnt already have "truth justice and the American way" it would have been Caps line. i think getting the right composer for this movie is more important than any other Marvel character, not even necessarily for the whole movie, but just to come up with an amazing theme like John Williams did for Supes.

my choice would be Howard Shore, the themes he did for LOTR were amazing, plus it was voted the greatest film soundtrack ever, so the guys got talent. my next choice would i guess have to be Williams, just cuz of what he did for Supes

Here's the thing: I think the ultimate dream for a director, for me anyway, would be Steven Spielberg. But that's probably a pipe dream. That said, the guy who does the music in nearly all of Spielberg's films is John Williams. On top of that, Williams also did the theme for Superman. Since Captain America is pretty much Marvel's version of Superman (as you said), it seems like a reasonable fit.

So my choice for Captain America's music man: John Williams.

Honestly, for anyone who's heard the soundtrack, Trey Parker did some great work on Team America: World Police.

I agree that Steve should direct the film.. and Williams should do the score.. please, please.. Paramount's distributing, Paramount owns Dreamworks now.. come on, come on, someone slip Steve the script while he's filming Indy IV..

yes Howard shore would make the movie awesome

Nobody does heroic themes like John Williams, as well as an entertaining soundtrack overall. LOTR had a good "heroic theme," but the rest didn't rise to the challenge.
