    What about Mike Newell?

He has a relationship with Warner Bros. after directing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Also watching that film, there is an impressive, extensive underwater sequence that I think he handles quite wonderfully and it stands up 10 years later.

    Notable films of his:

    Donnie Brasco
    Four Weddings and a Funeral
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He's worked with phenomenal actors and was the one who cast Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort and we all know how that worked out...

He's a bit older, 72, but I don't think that matters as Spielberg is 68 and still one of the finest filmmakers out there and Scorsese is 72 and at the top of his game.

I think we had our director chosen weeks ago... we only need confirmation from the studio.

    I agree with that.

I seriously don't understand why there isn't a bigger push for James Cameron? It could be like the highest grossing movie ever! :p

I know that Momoa is Aquaman but they could get Cameron in to do an Aquaman origins film as a lead in which has a younger Aquaman portrayed by Vincent Chase Adrien Grenier.

Having James Cameron could help WB outgross The Avengers!

$100 says it's Noam Murro. Any takers?

Latino Review is saying that Noam Murro is on the shortlist to direct and that WB wants Karl Urban for an unspecified role in the film.

Noam is a lazy guess and would be really ******. No thank you, not when Jeff Nichols' name has already been mentioned.

Yeah. A lot of people have been guessing that he might end up directing one of the DCCU films.

I'd like either of them but I prefer Nichols.

We should remember that they're cbms not shakespare. I'd say a good balance of story and action would be ideal. Both can do that.

However Murro has more experience with heavy VFX, and Atlantis needs a lot of effects. Not to mention, that Aquaman need a badass coreography and needs some pretty sweet battles, Murro has more experience with that already.

But also the movie needs some elements of the story behind that legendary place. Nichols has the advantage there. We'll see. I'd be happy with either of both directors WB choose from.

Right forget making a good worthwhile character driven movie. :funny:

Nichols is also much better director. So yes he would do a better job.

Which ever director is chosen I'll give a chance. I wouldn't be shocked if neither got the gig.

After what General Zod did to the ocean, he has some nerve to show up with an Aquaman shirt...

    Jeff Nichols
    Cary Fukunaga
    Ryan Coogler

All three are great up-and-comers with budding WB relationships. If WB/DC really taps into the spirituality of the Polynesian people for this interpretation of the character, it can make for a very unique superhero project.
