Now that Trevorrow is out, who do you think should direct episode IX?

Simple.

Rian Johnson or Ron Howard.

Ava Duvernay?

Taikia Watiti just said he'd get fired within a week on Twitter if it were him. :funny:

The Russo Brothers (I know they're probably too busy with Marvel, but I can dream)
Jon Favereau
Ron Howard
Gareth Edwards
John Lasseter
(honestly, most of the Marvel directors and Pixar directors would probably be great).

Maaaybe James Gunn? I know he'd give it his all, but his style doesn't really seem suited to Star Wars.

Oh wow, there is an option that would make me want Trevorrow back.

Do you feel like Gunn isn't a good director or do you just not feel like he's a good fit for the Star Wars universe?

I do think his style might be a bit too comedic and self-aware for Star Wars, but you never know.

Rian Johnson.

It's likely going to be Rian Johnson or J.J. Abrams coming back.

And despite what Disney and Kennedy are claiming, this movie will get delayed. Because either Rian or J.J. will want to perfect the script and prep the movie properly (and not just jump into a film that shoots in 3-4 months). So I see Disney delaying Episode IX to December 2019.

Both. I agree with your comments on his style, but I also don't trust his ability in handling characters. Unlike the rest of the world it seems, I don't like his Guardians movies much and the poor job he does on handling a number of things there would fill me with even less confidence than Jurassic World does.

I can't decide at this point if Kennedy is a perfectionist (good thing) or an overly-combatative control freak (bad thing).
She's in control and has bad ideas. But I don't think she's a "control freak" necessarily.

I would like to see JJ return. Dude can't write for **** but he filmed TFA basically perfectly. Fareau is a neat idea too

1. Spielberg
2. Rian Johnson
3. JJ Abrams

Released in December 2019.

This movie SHOULD get delayed. Coming out so close to Avengers 4 is insane. Wipe Trevorrow's mess from the script and push it back until December.

JJ, Rian, or Brad Bird for me. There is someone like Edgar Wright who would never do it, that would be my favorite choice. But he won't do it. Reeves, Vaughn and Miller would be great.

I really doubt Spielberg would do it. Him and Lucas are pretty tight...if Lucas selling the rights to Disney was like watching his kid get married then Spielberg directing one would be like finding out your buddy ****ed your daughter. Not good!

How can Spielberg work on 9 when he is doing Indy V?

Spielberg would be ideal, but I do want another Indy....**** it, let Ron do it.

I'd be good with Howard. Just get someone legit. I am not a fan of how the Lord and Miller situation went, but Trank, Voldemort and Edwards all felt like unnecessary risk.

Literally anyone besides J.J. Abrams.

It would be amazing if Kennedy could talk Lucas into returning to the franchise he created, but that's most likely a pipe dream.

Barring that, Rian Johnson should do it.

Howard is way too safe a pick. He peaked with "Apollo 13" and "Far and Away" back in the 90s.

Wow. Just wow. Did you not SEE the prequel trilogy? Lucas was given not one, not two, but THREE opportunities to make ONE good Star Wars movie, and he failed. Each time.

No, best to leave "Uncle George" out to pasture in Skywalker Ranch, thank you very much.

This is not even close to being an accurate statement.

And, for the record, Lucas has made four good to excellent Star Wars films, having essentially ghost-directed Return of the Jedi.

Lucas is a worse choice than Trevorrow. Far worse. Sorry.
