For all the video game movies that get made, it seems the ones with the most film-friendly stories and concepts get passed over. I think the Metroid series has probably one of the most interesting plots (especially Prime) and certainly HUGE potential to blow the doors off the recently stagnant sci-fi genre. A big X-factor in all of this would have to be who's to play our bounty hunting heroine, Samus Aran.
For my money, no one would fill her helmet better than Milla Jovovich

Milla Jovovich is the only one that comes to mind

That scarlette johanson person might be good

^ Nice manip! I'd like to see more. Maybe a battle damaged one...

Not a bad casting idea. She's already been in one set of video game movies though extremely bad ones.

What better way to automatically jinx a Metroid movie project than by casting the star of the already awful Resident Evil movies as Samus? :o

I've got a better idea for who should play Samus. She's 23 years old, 5' 11", blond, is a fresh face, has dipped her feet in the sci-fi genre, and is 100% certifiable babe. I referring to Aussie-born Transfromers starlet Rachael Taylor.

Her aussie accent in Transformers didn't quite hit me as Samus-like, but she is apparently capable of faking a convincing American accent, and even so, there's no set canon for how Samus talks since the the only dialog she's had in the games has been text.

No thanks, I have had my fair share of Milla in RINO. I suggest an unknown actress to play Samus or maybe Naomi Watts, Jennifer Connelly, Kate Bosworth, or perhaps Eliza Dushku?

But if I had to direct I would choose an unknown to play the role.

Does it really matter through? She rarely takes the helmet off anyway.

Rachael Taylor seems like a good choice.
I think Naomi Watts would be awesome.
And a ****ing Hell not to Kate Bosworth.

I like Jovovich a lot but I fear putting her in the this movie then makes it no different than all of the other similar type films she's done where she's the ass kicking protagonist i.e. Ultraviolet, Resident Evils, etc.

Well to an extent it does matter. Because in order to cater to the non-fans you have to portray some kind of emotion with the characters and fanboys(like myself) would want to see and feel the emotion.

If such a film is made I'm sure they would show her training without the helmet.

HELL YES!
I'm getting tired of seeing Milla in every frickin' action chick role.

she could work

i'm a Milla fan but i do think having her helm another video game series is overkill. Milla should do what Christian Bale is doing-- balancing careers between fun movies (like RE) and serious roles (like The Messenger).

Yes, because if a Metroid movie is ever made you know they'll replace Samus' power suit with a metal bikini. That's why there should never, ever, ever be a Metroid movie.

Hmmmm...Rachel Taylor...mmmm...

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... :p

I think it should be someone reasonably buff in the arms, maybe with a bit of ab, logically. Someone like this:

Gah! *shuts eyes and tries to think about Rachael Taylor in Samus' old school zero suit*
