His little hostesque bit was easily one of the better highlights of the night.

I thought Robert Downey had one of the funniest moments of the night when he made a reference to his rampant drug use in the early 90's when presenting the award for visual effects. It's always refreshing to see celebrities laugh at themselves and not take themselves too serious all the time.

I did.:D I think Ellen could've come out more or something. When she did she cracked me up. Tobey looked hawt.:spidey::heart:

I hated "Pan's Labyrinth" not winning 3 Oscars it SHOULD have won.

Oh, and Ellen sucks ass.

Watched last year only because John Stewart was hosting. Actually made it through the 4 hour broadcast in about an hour.

Movies are an art form. Perhaps the most mass art form of all time. The Oscars is a forum to honor that art. Oh, and if you don't like it, just don't watch or make pointless posts about it in a thread that is clearly about it.

Umm, no - the thread asked "Who Watched The Oscars?" I simply answered that I did not, and added my own comments. Had the thread been titled "Let's talk about the Oscars!", then you're reply may have had a point, but as it stands, it's quite ignorant ... or shall I say yet another demonstration OF your ignorance toward those with whom you disagree.

I watched the Oscars! This year's season was one of the most enjoyable ones yet and I'm quite pleased with the results; and a lot of my prediction were right!

I just got tired of her "in your face" man-look. I mean...who doesn't know she's a lesbian????????? She comes out in a suit and white sneakers looking as dude-ish as possible! Heck Ellen...why not put on a bow tie...don't stop there!

You know what??? If she really wanted to get people talkin'....put on a evening gown or at least a more feminine looking pant suit.

IT WAS FOR THE OSCARS, for cryin' out loud.

You're an idiot. For your information, female hosts for the Oscars have never worn a dress before and have always worn casual suit-and-pants. Whoopi Goldberg wore a dress when she hosted it, but she did it as a gag, referencing this tradition.

The only thing that really pissed me off was the cinematography award.
Lubezki's work was like seeing Leonardo paint the Last Supper.
And for him not to win is an outrage.

Agreed. At least someone who posts on this message board understands what he's talking about. Emmanuel Lubezki (CHILDREN OF MEN) won the Cinematography Award at this year's American Society Of Cinematographers (ASC) Outstanding Achievement Awards (this guild consists of actual professional cinematographers) and PAN'S LABYRINTH won the Oscar for Best Cinematography just because most of the Academy consists of actors and actresses who don't understand why or for what they're voting in the more technical categories; they just tend to vote for the film they enjoyed the most, which, in this case, was PAN'S LABYRINTH.

I still think that just members of the individual guilds should be able to vote in their respected categories, except for Best Picture, which everyone must be able to vote for.

Pans should have got best foreign pic too. Del Toro deserved it.

I hated "Pan's Labyrinth" not winning 3 Oscars it SHOULD have won.

Have either of you THE LIVES OF OTHERS? The reason PAN'S LABYRINTH didn't win Best Foreign Language Film is because in order to be able to vote in this category you have to have actually seen all the nominees.

My only gripe was Eddie not winning Best Supporting Actor.
I've already explained this and agreed with many posters in the other thread.

Scorcese and The Departed won Best Director and Best Picture.
That's all that matters.

neither eddie, scorcese or the departed deserved to win.

Different strokes for different folks.

marty got the win because he's marty. the departed was a great movie, for sure, but it's kinda hard to screw it up with a script and cast like that. definitely not one of his best ones, though.

children of men was the best movie of the year, hands down. best directed, and certainly best cinematography.

Wait a minute?
Children of Men wasn't even nominated. (I think because it's release date was too late?) Children of Men not being nominated made it so any of the films that were nominated for Best Picture didn't deserve it?

I thought that you were going to say Letters From Iwo Jima, Babel, or something...

I think Marin won out of pity sort of. I mean, he's come SO CLOSE in the years. He deserved it YEARS ago. Children of Men was a REALLY GOOD MOVIE, but I think it came out a bit too late. Definately next year.

I don't get what's so appealing about watching super rich, spoiled people pat themselves on the back for receiving undeserved, over-inflated paychecks.

Why isn't there an Acadamy awards show for doctors or teachers? Oh, that's right, they aren't "entertainers", silly me .
