I didn't know where to post this. So forgive me. With that being said who will be the first superhero to die on film? If I had to guess I think Superman will be the first one. Thoughts

I know in the Guardians Of The Galaxy comics the line-up changes all the time because of characters dying, so one of them could be the first to die.

Without coming back? I think it was Cyclops.

The Comedian was the first, so this thread is pointless, lol.

Because his death is literally what starts The Watchmen story. Other than flashbacks, it's not like he was some superhero with his own storyline or anything.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Jean Grey as Dark Phoenix or Professor X yet, though the latter I wouldn't really count as a super hero.

The answer is Cyclops! X-Men 3 came out before Watchmen, and Cyclops died way earlier in the movie than Jean or the Professor did.

I didn't want to say Cyclops simply because his death was off-screen and poorly handled. :oldrazz:

Ok how about the more current ones. And I should have restated my question I mean more of the bigger name. Ones in lead roles. Ones where the GA would be shocked. You know the big players.

Hulk in the tv film The Death of the Incredible Hulk.

If we go more recent

In X-men: Days of future past= We might see numerous characters die depending on cameos .

The Avengers 2 = If a member of the team dies I think it will be Hawkeye.

The Man of Steel 2 or 3= We could see a loose adaptation of The Death of Superman storyline.

But he doesn't really die in Death of Superman, does he?
Unless the comic is different from the movie.

so, I'm guessing...

...doesn't count

Ehh, would definitely count Watchmen, but I totally forgot about the deaths in X-Men 3, lol.

So...are you only talking about the bigger names the GA knows like just Batman, Superman or Spider-Man?

In that case...I wouldn't be surprised if Superman dies in Snyder's trilogy and actually does die and not fake his death.

He's not one of those big players :o :oldrazz:

The Comedian, unlike Cyclops, totally counts, IMO. He might have been a reprehensible piece of ****, but he was still a superhero.
But if that's not a good enough answer, what about Rorshach?

Leaving Watchmen aside, what about Zorro way back in 1998? Or V in 2006?

Elektra was essentially a superhero in the Daredevil film, although of course they brought her back in her spin off film. But I imagine that audiences unfamiliar with the DD comic storyline would have been shocked at her demise, given the fact she was the love interest *and* a superhero.

I was taking the question meaning from this point forward. But obviously, several others have died before now.:oldrazz:

Ok, we will stop being professor pedantics, lol, and think of possibilities for the future.
Well, thinking about the comics, perhaps one day someone will kill off Robin in a Batman series, I don't think that will happen anytime soon, but decades from now, yeah, I think someone will do that storyline as part of a trilogy.
I don't know why people think they will kill off Superman in the films, well, in the near future anyway. But much like the Robin storyline, they will most likely do the DOS story at some point, but not for at least another decade or two.

The most likely scenario for heroes getting killed off in near future films? Any of the team movies where they have a huge roster to pick from for future films, so x-men, avengers, justice league, etc, is the most obvious answer. They might do the death of Thunderbird in an x-men film, as he was the first of the new x-men to die in the comics.

Someone big's almost definitely going to die in Avengers 2.

Thats sort of just how Whedon rolls.

eh, I think that rep comes mainly from the Firefly movie, Serenity, where he done away with a few main characters, which of course is because he was cramming the planned mythology into one catch all movie, because he wanted the characters all in a certain place by the end of the saga.

He was told to bump off Coulson in Avengers, he'd only bump off a hero in A2 if it served the story, and of course, if they gave him permission. If someone goes, it could well be down to the management wanting it that way again, like Coulson.
