Joss Whedon? The Russos?

Rumour is that Whedon will step down from the directors chair after Age of Ultron, and Joe and Anthony Russo will instead direct the two part epix Infinity War film. Who do you think will direct? Or will it be someone else entirely?

I threw James Gunn into the poll as well for obvious reasons.

I say have Russos, Whedon, and Gunn all involved. Just all 4 of them with one vision.

Maybe each film will be a different director? Whedon does one someone else the other? Or if the Russo's do it, one Russo can do one and the other does part II :P

I personally think that Joss will oversee and work on the script, with input from Gunn and the Russos, but that the Russos will ultimately direct it.

I want all of them involved, with Joss at the lead. Where did the rumors of him stepping down even come from?

Joss has to finish what he started.:o

I hope it will be Joss Whedon.

Thought the Russo's had already been announced?

Edit: Just checked. Only rumours so far. But they'd get my vote.

I doubt Gunn will direct, since he'll still be deep in post production on Guardians 2 when Infinity War will start filming. I could see Whedon remaining at the helm, with creative input from Gunn and the Russos.

All should be involved, with the combined skills of Whedon, Russos and Gunn to ensure the best result.

Maybe Edgar Wright can work on the script, ready in time for 2039. :o

i agree with everyone so far that everyone should be involved with Infinity War. Joss, Russo's and Gunn have done an amazing job with their films.

Gunn would probably handle the cosmic aspects better than Whedon, even though he's done Serenity and Firefly. The Russos might be good at building a tense thriller. Whedon might shine at developing character moments.

As much as I'd like to see all three have their own part, the most realistic thing to me would be just Joss Whedon. I hope I'm proven wrong though, as some sort of collaboration would be amazing.

Yeah, having four or five different directors working on a movie would be challenging enough. Having four or five different directors with such differing styles would be a nightmare. Just keep it simple. I'd prefer that it'd be Whedon since he's the one who did the first two films (so finishing out the series should be his honor).

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a collaboration in the sense that everyone will add some input, feedback, etc. Kind of how Joss made a lot of suggestions for the Phase 2 films. Even if Joss is directing, the Russos or Gunn will likely help out. That's what I love about Marvel Studios...it really is one big team/family. Pretty unique.

At bare minimum we need Joss writing these. While I'd be game for Joss to direct as well, sometimes new blood is necessary to keep things fresh. The great thing is that I have full faith in Joss and Feige to recognize when that point arrives and act upon it accordingly.

I'm personally hoping that Joss finishes what he started, but I wouldn't mind if Gunn was a co-writer though. That would be cool.

It may sound strange, but I feel like what the Russo's are doing with the Cap movies is basically building their own little mini-Avengers franchise - the Earthbound story - and it's the one that the least connected to the whole Thanos/Infinity Gems arc, so them having such a major role in the finale of the Thanos arc would seem a bit wrong to me. I'd be perfectly happy with them taking over the main Avengers title after Infinity War, though, because that would be like the beginning of a whole new arc of phases, imo.

On a side note, I loved that picture from the Media Day Event of Joss, the Russos and Scott Derrickson huddled together chatting about something. That's how I like to imagine the creative atmosphere at Marvel Studios is all the time, like one big creative family huddle, haha.

Joss Whedon, simply because he directed the 1st 2 Avengers films.
