Greetings Cyrus Grissom.

Nothing personal against John Glover, fine actor, gave fine performances in the past, but I have a hard time picturing him as Skeletor. I once toyed with the idea of Ron Perlman as Skeletor, given Perlman's previous roles playing inhuman creatures which puts him under tons of prosthetic make up, and his size, since Skeletor has to be relatively big standing next to He-Man (Perlman is 6'2" in height and has always looked stocky, though he is getting up there). This is about where you would flame me for not seeing the brilliance of John Glover as Skeletor.

Viggo Mortensen as Stratos sounds fine. Tyler Mane as Beastman sounds very accurate. I can work with Frank Langella as Hordak.

But who could play King Hiss? And who does one cast as Prince Adam, diminuitive alter ego of He-Man?

For the role of He-Man/Adam's and Adora/She-Ra's father, King Randor, I nominate the following men (based mostly on size and/or how well they look with beards) -

Gerard Butler (300)

(actually I just put him down to see if it'll piss anyone off)

I actually once thought of Liam Neeson for King Randor.

Don't know who to cast as Queen Marlena, wife of Randor, mother of Adam/He-Man and Adora/She-Ra.

Shouldn't we work in a cameo for former movie He-Man Dolph Lundgren?

Should the characters Ram-Man, Buzz-Off, Fisto, Mekaneck and Man-E-Faces appear?

Besides Evil-Lynne (or Lyn or Linn or Lynn or however it's spelled), Beastman and

Are you thinking more in terms of the 1983 He-Man series or the 2002 He-Man series?

Should He-Man wear pants?

Ummmm, I'm no brainiac but I'd have to say yes.
He generally doesn't wear pants, but he wore pants in "The New Adventures" series from 1990 and have been debating with others if giving He-Man pants would equal better box office for him.

Yeh Gerald Butler would be fine to play King Randor, and do you think Scarlett Johanssen would be perfect to play Princess Adora and She-Ra?

Well, in terms of height, the 5'4" Scarlett Johanssen would be fine for Adora, assuming you go with a smaller Adora while you cast some tall woman as She-Ra (someone who's like 5'11", think Kristanna Loken height only not Kristanna Loken if you don't want to think of her specifically). I'm not sure using CGI to make Scarlett look taller as She-Ra would be a good idea. If you do it like "The New Adventures of He-Man" or the 2002 version of He-Man, you'd hire a smaller actor/actress for Adam/Adora while casting someone physically larger as He-Man/She-Ra so that you don't get the question they asked of the 1983 Filmmation series: "why does no one notice that Adam is He-Man in pink & purple and sans tan?"

I haven't really seen any of Jason Lewis's work so I can't comment on him.

I always figured they'd have to hire some body builder guy for He-Man; someone who's at least 6'2", either has blonde hair or looks good if he bleaches it, looks rugged and masculine and outdoorsmen like in the face, and projects at least some degree of likability and charisma. You're not likely to find Oscar winners in the body builder crowd, but whoever plays He-Man has to be just sympathetic and engaging enough to win over audience sympathy and be convincing as a great, inspiring leader of men.

And for the director of the film, i'd choose either Michael Bay, Guillermo Del Toro or Zack Sydner to do the film.

Sounds good.

Should Peter Jackson and Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) be listed as well?

Michael Bay?? Come on! Please no. I predict once Transformers pisses out into theaters, people won't be so quick at suggesting this overpaid hack do anything other than take orders at McDonalds.

Friend of mine suggested John Cena for He-Man.

How does everyone else feel about that?

I think you should slam your friend's head with a cardoor until he comes to his senses. Besides, even if John Cena had SOME acting ability or wasn't SO obviously pumping steroids, you'd probably have a He-Man movie produced by Vince McMahon because he OWNS those wrestlers. And well... we all saw how good "See No Evil" and "The Marine" turned out.

I like the idea of Jason Lewis for He-Man, though I'd much rather see him play Wulfgar in Drizzt Do'Urden movie (though that will probably never happen).

Okay, do we have everybody from the old "He-Man" movie thread?? :oldrazz:

Just kidding, guys! :)

Not a bad list from CG (unless he prefers Grissom). Good to see Dr. Fate back in the proverbial panthor saddle

Don't lie it was you who tinks such a horrible casting dreision should be made!:o :cmad: :cmad:

No, that was not my idea. It was the suggestion of a friend of mine, and since the thread was pushed back to page 2, I posted just for the controversy and to get it back on page 1. :oldrazz:

A little young for those roles, IMO
How old do you think Skeletor is? I'm guessing he's over or around 45, and I assume the same with the Sorceress of Grayskull.

How old would you want Prince Adam to be - 16 like the 2002 Mike Young series or vaguely early 20s?

Whoever plays Skeletor, they can never be as good as Frank Langella. He was one of the best screen villains EVER.

casting masters of the universe is one of the hardest storys to cast the best bet would be to keep the two sides to a minium, possible due to the look of skeletors characters there could be more but only as cameos

to me your main heros would be

he-man/adam
MAA- tom sellack
teela
battlecat
orko(has to be there for kids) cgi with either the voice of Lou Scheimer or Gabe Khouth
sorcercess- Marcia Cross or Julianne Moore

with small part for randor and marelna

villains would be the core group of

skeletor/keldor
evil-lyn-Carrie-Anne Moss or Rachel Weisz
beastman-michael clarke duncan
trap-jaw- ron pearlman
tri-klops- jason statham
merman

the best story to follow would be the openin cartoon "the begining" from the new toon and randor should only be played by Dolph Lundgren

I'm inclined to agree with you, Kevin Roegele. Frank Langella totally nailed Skeletor; topping him would be impossible.

I'd support Dolph Lundgren playing King Randor. Marcia Cross as the Sorceress sounds like a good fit as well.

I'd like to throw Monica Bellucci into the ring as an Evil-Lyn candidate.

You're right, Lundgren would be a good King Randor. And do you think i made some sexy casting choices for the chick characters?
