Whoa...Marvel Universe Cards (1991)

"There are a few characters however, who have enjoyed revitalization since their '90s heyday. Speedball, now going by the moniker Penance, due to the lingering guilt he feels over the loss of innocent lives during the CIVIL WAR saga, is almost completely different than the blonde, bouncing bundle of joy that graced the front of his Series 2 card. He's now relying on pain to activate his powers and has traded teal spandex for an iron maiden-like outfit. Go figure."

Revitalized? *snort* That's a laugh!

I remember my best friend and I ordered a box of the Jim Lee X-Men set through our comic shop. We both got all the "hologram" cards. :woot::up: I find the prices of cards today prohibitive, though.

The cards that are missing in that link are the Marvel Series II trading cards that came with an issue of X-Factor #1

X-Force #1, actually

Yeah, these cards were great, a bunch of kids had them at camp when I was younger, it was how I first started reading comics.

I always loved the Rookie, Legend, and Weapons categories from series 2.

I filled three huge binders with various complete Marvel card collections.

The cards were good, even i have some of them...and i still think they are valueable.

You think, as in you think they are? Or you mean you think they still have value? Because sadly, they no longer have any what so ever. You can buy a full set off of ebay for like $5.

Ah quite right, touche Peck

which series had the crunch and munch exclusive set? 1 or 2?

Those were good cards, but I didn't much get into the cards until the X-Men Fleer set, and the Spider-Man ones later. I remember the Spiderman cards that were clear save for the character in the center. I thought those were freakin' sweet! I'll have to go out and get some of these sets for nastolgic reasons.

I am just going to come out and say that these cards were crappy. Marvel superhero cards? Really. I think I was OK sticking to baseball and basketball.

Hmmmm...did you collect them then? How old were you when they came out?
