Who's gonna be Sally Jupiter? Seeing as how Laurie Juspeczyk has been cast, I'm just wondering who is gonna play her mother.

Another thread says Carla Gugino (Sin City, Spy Kids) is up for it.

Just a rumor at this point, though.

I am assuming they are going to put makeup on her in order to make her look like an old fart in the present day scenes.

Carla could make that work. My God, call me crazy, but I just want to sink my teeth into her.

:o

meryl streep, maybe? id unno, just tossing that out there.

Hasn't this...

already been confirmed?

laurie has been cast. her mother, sally, has not.

Ya gotta have a somewhat sexy older woman to play Sally Jupiter. Someone who looked like "she had it" back in the day, and is now just a sort of flabby version of her former hot self. And someone with enough vivacious charm to make that character come to life. Someone as outgoing as Bette Midler, only a bit more attractive.

I know Meryl Streep has the chops, but not quite the look...Gugino has both, but I know there's someone out there that's truly born to play this role. Just can't think of her at the moment. :p

I'm thinking she'll most likely be a complete unknown seeing as how they had a casting call sheet for her character.

Carla Gugino is Sally Jupiter in Watchmen

Carla Gugino (Sin City) has joined the cast of Watchmen, the Warner Bros. adaptation of the DC Comics limited series.

She joins Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Malin Akerman in the Warner Bros. movie, which is set in an alternate America that has passed a law banning costumed crime fighters. When one is murdered, the remaining members set out to solve the mystery.

Gugino will play Sally Jupiter, a burlesque dancer-turned-costumed heroine and sex symbol the Silk Spectre who is part of the Minutemen, a group of heroes who preceded the Watchmen. She also is the mother of the new Silk Spectre (Akerman). Gugino is expected to portray Jupiter in varying eras, playing different ages throughout the movie.

Zack Snyder (300) will direct the film, which is set to start shooting in the fall in Vancouver.

Carla Gugino? Hell yes!!! It will be a bit akward that I will fing Laurie's mother more attractive than Laurie herself.

She's too young because she's going to be portraying both young Sally and Older Sally.

Yes, thank you for that. I KNOW how they are casting the movie but she looks a lot younger than the young Sally, and thus, too young to play the older Sally.... In my opinon.

She's 36 years old, I believe. Just the right age for a young Sally. And Carla is more mature looking than most actresses born in the 70's.

Carla Gugino should be Lauren Jupiter, not Sally. She would be perfect as Lauren; far too you to be Sally. Lauren has been miscast that girl is far too young.

Laurie, I think you mean.

People need to stop whining about them casting too young. Seriously, do you think they're going to not use make-up or something? There's no way they would leave her in her mid 30's playing the mother of Laurie. She'll look like an old woman when needed.

The same goes for the current day heroes. Just because they cast a 20 or 30year old actor doesn't mean they're staying that way. Look at Rorschach, he's the only character who's face isn't shown in flashbacks, and they cast the right age. Everyone else, save Crudup as Manhattan, will be aged up and down for the appopriate scenes.

That said, this is so far the only casting choice i've really gotten excited over, but that's because this is the only one I really recognize. I'd seen Crudup in a few things, but other than that I've never seen any of them. Carla Gugino is a freakin' babe though, so I cant wait.

A couple of points. People don't need to worry about whether or not you think they should say say something, and makeup has its limits. It will be very hard to make her look like shes in her sixties with any realism using makeup.
