Since we have a Oscar buzz thread we should also have one to discuss the movies that are gonna get overlooked during this awards season. So, who do you think is gonna get snubbed this year?

I have a feeling that Chloe Moretz is gonna get the shaft. Hit Girl is too controversial and since Let Me In is a horror movie, a genre that's belittled by awards, she has a tough time there as well. Speaking of Kick-Ass, Nicolas Cage is gonna get snubbed too. Now, what about Inception? Is WB's campaign for The Town gonna get in the way? Inception will get technical nominations and maybe Best Picture, but I see all the actors getting snubbed in favor for the cast of The Town. Also, I don't see Chris Nolan getting a Best Director nomination. Ryan Reynolds is gonna get snubbed in Buried in favor of James Franco who's also playing a guy that's trapped in a small space and fighting for his life. Plus, his performance is based on a real person.

In my opinion Inception, Kick Ass & The Town has no chance at all. Just because all three seem to be loved by a good majority & when it comes to popular loved films even if they are really good like The Town. Awards like the Oscars says **** you to them just to get people talking about the Oscars. Especially since most actual Oscar Awards shows suck

Kick-Ass will get snubbed at the Oscars, of course, but Inception will get plenty of technical nominations as well as Best Picture. They wanna make it up for snubbing The Dark Knight. The whole reason why there's 10 nominees now is because people complained about TDK and Wall-E getting snubbed. The Town will get nominations in the acting categories. Jeremy Renner is almost a lock for Best Supporting Actor.

Of course "Inception" will be snubbed in the acting categories. Loved the movie, but none of the performances were Oscar-worthy. Not even Tom Hardy, and he almost stole the movie for me. As for Leo, he was fine in it, but I preferred his performance in "Shutter Island", even though "Inception" is the superior film.

Tron Legacy
Shutter Island

And the Black Swan unfortunately.

Kick Ass won't get snubbed as it was never really a contender. Inception will probably be the big snub of the year. It should get a best picture nomination (only because of the ridiculous increase to ten), but that's it.

Jeremy Renner is almost a lock for Best Supporting Actor.

I'd be surprised more than anything if he wasn't nominated. I don't know what they'll do with Inception but i hope Shutter Island doesn't get overlooked .

If it's remotely entertaining to people who don't analyze film, it's probably going to get snubbed.

I would love to see Chloe Moretz get a nom. My favorite performance this year (sorry RDJ...you'll have to settle for 2nd).

Shutter Island won't get nominated .
Movies that are released early in the year almost never wind up competeting for the awards.
Also Paramount ( if i'm not mistaken) decided to pull SHutter Island from the awards season even though it was finished . The reason was simply that they didn't want to pay up to 60 million promoting it for oscars with no guarentee of winning one. When the movie was released in theaters , many critics rightfully praised DICAprio's performance as oscar worhty. I do think he was going to get a best actor nom.
Paramount had their chance then and they aren't going to do it now.

And i wouldn't say go so far to count out The Town just yet. The movie is getting strong reviews , WB and Affleck were aggresively promoting the movie and so far it's paid off well with the movie overperforming at the BO. How it'll hold up remains to be seen but if pulls a departed , don't be surprised when the town will get some nom.

The obvious snubs will be Inception ( Best Director , Best Film , Best Original Screenplay). And i have this feeling that Portman may also be nominated but won't win.

I don't think Inception will get shafted, it'll score nods for Director and Picture, Best Actress is gonna be a tough race this year so I think it's gonna be hard to see there being any genuine snubbing in that category, it's gonna be a completely different race to the Bullock debacle last year. I think Toy Story might get snubbed in categories other than Best Picture, I get the strangest feeling it'll miss an Adapted Screenplay nod which will severely hurt it's Best Picture chances.

The main reason Kick-ass wont get any nominations has nothing to do with the genre.

The Town is the movie I think that Ill like(havent seen it yet) but I predict will be ignored. Otherwise the movie I am looking forward for and the performances I think I will like has the buzz.

Kick Ass was a fun entertaining movie, but Oscar worthy? Nah

Chloe Grace Moretz's performance was absolutely Oscar worthy. Hit Girl is the characater of the year, like Hans Landa in 2009 and The Joker in 2008.

Yeah, I think Chloe Grace Moretz definitely should get a nomination. Anna Paquin won her Oscar for The Piano and Moretz arguably has an even better performance by comparison in Kick-Ass, but since it's an ultra-violent movie based on a comic book, she won't get a nomination.

I have a feeling that Leonard DiCaprio may not get one either, even though he should receive a nom from Shuttered Island at the very least. Inception (like you guys said) will get noms from technical, BP, and probably director. I think The Town will get a nom for Jeremy Renner, and Best Picture as well. I think Affleck will get snubbed for Best Director. For Best Actress, Natalie Portman I think has the strongest buzz so far.
