I wanted to put a little spin on the question of the next-gen (or this gen if you prefer) question. With stats.......so lets try this out...

Nintendo
Created 1889
Its the name you and your parents know creator of hits like super mario bros. and Pokemon.

Pros:woot:
  • never builds hardware at a loss
  • name recognition
  • experience
  • not afraid to make quirky games
Cons:cmad:
  • somewhat strained relations w/ 3rd parties
  • afraid of change at times
  • usually builds underpowered systems
Sony
created in 1946
They truly are a jack of all trades whether its music, movies, or videogames if you think it...Sony's probably done it.

Pros:woot:
  • willing to go the extra mile with their systems
  • 3rd party magnet
  • brand recognition
Cons:cmad:
  • unable to adapt to the market at times
  • shady practices
  • arrogance
Microsoft
Created in 1975
Microsoft truly knows how to dominate a market, taking Apple down for the count in the 90's. Microsoft has one thing that drives them.......taking down Sony.

Pros:woot:
  • money and lots of it
  • knowledge(consles...computers not that much difference)
  • good multiplayer network
Cons:cmad:
  • they have a habit of not working all the kinks out (vista im looking at you.........and the 360 and Windows Me and Windoes 98 second edition and on and on and on...)
  • sometimes throws money away like its going out of style.....
  • deny....deny.....lie......cry.......and appologize
So you got their pros and cons who do you can stick it out long enough or have the bigger guns to claim the first place crown....

Place your bets NOW!!!!!!:ninja:
Is it contestant number 1, contestant number 2, or contestant number 3!!

i made a thread company wise not just consoles in general.......like nintendo as a whole not just the Wii, or in Microsoft's case the 360.

In otherwords can each respective company pull out enough ideas and work on their faults to win this time around. Because i thought that comparing consles isnt exactly fair because they vary, especially in the Wii's case.

is there a point to this thread? Really this same topic is already being discussed and it stays on the front page

Same difference. You are asking about which company can survive this gen and this gen consists of the 360, PS3 and Wii

They are all going to survive through this generation, I don't see either system dying out this time around. I don't think any of them will be dying out in the generations to come, but there will be a roller coaster of success and failure. The Wii is on top right now, but last gen the Gamecube wasn't doing as hot.

This OP is really starting to wear on me. She made a dup thread in the Sony board.

Yeah - They made playing cards or something

serious, i actually checked it up you are right it was a cards. I thought it was a typo haha.

The Nintendo Wii is a joke. Look at the people excited for Okami. wWOW u haev won teh p0rt! Thnx 4 ur $$$250!!!!!!111 :D

Seriously, stop making idioic threads. We already have a thread for this topic.

They are excited for a good game???? Its not like its the top of anyones list of greatest games for the Wii. Its a great game, that will most likely have a solid port to a console that appears the game was made for. WHF, stop being such a close minded fanboy.

What makes this thread even more stupid is that the stats aren't even right on some

Not true, if anything Nintendo's relations with 3rd parties are better than ever.

Sega is no longer Nintendo's rival and is fully developing Wii games, and doing it right too unlike most developers.

Nintendo has patched up relations with Square and Square is in full support of Nintendo's systems by developing the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series only for Nintendo's systems, Dragon Quest IX being a Nintendo DS exclusive, remaking games in the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games for the Nintendo DS along with side games for the handheld.

Nintendo has always had great relations with Capcom and Namco.

We see third party characters such as Konami's Solid Snake and Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Expect to see at least one more.

UbiSoft is in full support of the Wii if you can see how much they developed for the Wii launch (despite the fact that most of them were crap)

And of course we have the rather lazy (IMO) Western developers like Electronic Arts and Activision supporting the system..

afraid of change at times
Ask the Wii and Nintendo DS on Nintendo refusing to change.

on Sony said:

What are you talking about? How the hell has Sony not been able to adapt to the market. The video game industry wouldn't be the way it is if it weren't for the Playstation and Playstation 2 and Sony is pretty much the only company that has been able to break Nintendo's monopoly on the handheld console market with the Playstation Portable.

shady practices
Yeah, Sony has done some rather shady practices, but the vast majority of it is along the lines of stupidity within their marketing (like fictional movie reviewers, creating fan websites, etc) than say actual shady practices (like infringing Immersion's patents). I'd be more wary of say....Microsoft's actual shady practices.

arrogance
All three companies are guilty of it. Nintendo got arrogant years ago and they lost to Sony because of it when the Playstation hit. Sony's very arrogant today. Microsoft is very arrogant too.

on Microsoft said:

No, down the line, the thing that drives them is making a mark in the video game industry and I dunno, making a profit perhaps.

sometimes throws money away like its going out of style.....
Microsoft has so much freaking money, how is that a problem. The way I see it, it makes exclusive third party games more competitive for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 (Bioshock, Infinite Undiscovery, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Final Fantasy XIII) and the rarer they are, the better quality they will most likely be.

deny....deny.....lie......cry.......and appologize
A lot of companies do this. The government does this. Is this really a con?

Sorry pal, the Wii is a box full of PS2 ports at this point. Getting excited over a port is never something one should do, anyway.

You know what, nevermind, you are right. Super paper mario was on the PS2, then ported to the Wii. Same with Metroid and Zelda. You know what? I think Rayman Raving Rabbids was as well.

Wait, what do you say? Im right????

Super Paper Mario was on the N64. Metroid and Zelda were on the Gamecube. Rayman Raving Rabbids actually was on the PS2, Xbox360 and Wii.

And Ninja Gaiden was on the xbox.. I guess that means the next one is a waste of space. :whatever:

No offense but you're ignorant as hell when it comes to the Wii.

Most of the Western games on the Wii are a bunch of Playstation 2 ports. That's because developers like Electronic Arts, Activision, Vivendi, Take-Two, THQ, etc are freaking lazy as hell. That's the Wii's weakness. Lazy third party developers who don't take the time to take advantage of what it is capable of, graphically especially.

And frankly there's no point in listing any good games being developed on the Wii because all you would simply say is that they're crap anyways :o

Super Paper Mario was on the N64. Metroid and Zelda were on the Gamecube. Rayman Raving Rabbids actually was on the PS2, Xbox360 and Wii.

And as far as Raving Rabbids goes. It's pretty much agreed by everyone that the Wii version was superior.. Hence why the sequel is only coming out on the Wii.

Super Paper Mario was on the N64. Metroid and Zelda were on the Gamecube. Rayman Raving Rabbids actually was on the PS2, Xbox360 and Wii.

Super Paper Mario is only on the Wii. It started out as a Gamecube game but development transfered to the Wii once Nintendo decided to phase it out.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is considered to be the best in the series, which is only on the Wii.

Twilight Princess is unfortunately a ******ed port.

Rayman Raving Rabbids was developed with the Wii in mind and the other versions were considered to be vastly inferior. The sequel is a Wii exclusive.

Super Paper Mario was on the N64. Metroid and Zelda were on the Gamecube. Rayman Raving Rabbids actually was on the PS2, Xbox360 and Wii.

How is Super Paper Mario an N64 game???? And wasnt Raving Rabbids first released on Wii, then on the PS2 and 360?

Metroid 3 on GC? Are you high???

Super Paper Mario was on the N64. Metroid and Zelda were on the Gamecube. Rayman Raving Rabbids actually was on the PS2, Xbox360 and Wii.

So I guess using this logic, Super Mario Galaxy was already released on N64 and GameCube and Nights is actually on the Dreamcast.

Does that mean Halo 3 was on the original X-Box?

whats wrong with getting okami its a great game and the wiimote would go great with it.......is that a bad thing???

vais rare's not bad its just that the ppl who made it amazing are gone and the rest of the ppl are just sorta there for the paycheck
