Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Who's the new director?

The last episode of Agents of SHIELD just aired in the UK and was surprised that in the nine months later segment Coulson's no longer director of SHIELD. If Daisy hadn't been shown as a goth on the run from SHIELD I thought she may have taken over but that's obviously not the case.

The only problem there is she hasn't been in the show since season two episode nineteen The Dirty Half Dozen.

May doesn't seem like the person to take over as director just like that, but I'm not gonna be surprised if it's her.

My guess would be someone else entirely that hasn't been associated with the group that much. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say General Talbot.

It would make sense to have someone in there that hasn't seen eye to eye with Coulson all that much. Especially if they're trying to catch Daisy discretely. Someone doing things by the book and getting in their way makes more sense. I just can't see Melinda May taking over without Coulson and Mack involved.

I could be way off base on this one, but it's just a thought.

General Talbot would make sense. He'd want to catch Daisy because of what happened with Hive putting her under the Hive influence.

It won't be Talbot as Pasdar will be unavailable for the first half of the season as he is on Colony which starts filming at the the same time as AOS -in fact is that not what happened this season as well with Constance being there for 3a before she went back to shoot UnReal S2 (which has BJ Britt in it this time) ,and Adrian doing 3b.

With Jason O’Mara announced as the new director, I thought who could he be and immediately got a crazy theory that's probably not true. Jim Hammond, the original human torch, first synthetic human being, teased in Captain America the First Avenger. The idea being he was an operative in the 50's (Codename: The Torch) retired or was shut down. Reactivated and decided to make a life for himself eventually being named Director of Shield. With Vision being around and LMD becoming a thing, it's a possible idea.

Reason why I don't think it will happen is because with Hellfire and now Ghost Rider there's enough fire guys (however would make for a cool reveal when he's unaffected by flames) and it's a bit much to swallow that an android could fool enough people be name director of an agency.

Still a cool idea and if Agent Carter continues he could show up.

It's strange. And I expect the build-up to the reveal will be a huge disappointment.

The mystery worries me. It isn't like the reveal will be some huge announcement...it'll either be some lower-level Marvel character that most people have never heard of, or some new character (or a new character that is eventually revealed to be a lower-level comic character after a season of origin story/mystery).

That's what's going to happen.

I'm not putting much thought into it because I expect it to be "meh" either way.
