Why did Jamie Lee Curtis return to Halloween just to die?

This is really weird, to me atleast. Jamie Lee Curtis avoided all the Halloween sequels except the first one. Twenty years later, she returns to seemingly end the series and kill Mr Michael Myers. Finito. End of the story, happy-ish ending.

So why, oh someone please tell me why, did she return for the laughably poor Halloween Resurrection, only to have her character snuff it in the opening sequence?

After Halloween: H20, Curtis was contractually bound to appear in another Halloween film. The decision was made to have her face her brother once more and then depart the series. This was mainly due to Curtis' lack of interest in continuing the role rather than character based considerations.
Sounds plausible.

That's just weird. Why would she agree to two, when she clearly just wanted an end to the series? And I can't imagine then forcing her into two.

she probably figure h20 would be the last one.

How much money could she have possibly gotten for the very small screen time? I think it was her way of finally being written out of the films never to return, to bad horror movies are as bad as comics when it comes to keeping people dead.

I'm thinking it was just an option clause in the contract for another possible movie. H20 could have been the last and she wanted to provide a sense of closure for the character. After the success of H20, they just chose to dip back into the well and she wanted out. Just speculation on my part, but certainly a possibility.

I guess because of the contract with H20.
H20 was a good thing, except like every single f***ing horror movie these days, there is never a proper ending. Always a damn cliffhanger. I wished that she would've killed Michael at the end of H20.

Thank the Lord that this poor series is being rebooted. That way we'll get 1 or 2 good Halloween movies. We don't have to worry about 28740 different sequels, anymore.

I'm happy with the original Halloween. I'm still considering getting Halloween 2, though I have no intention of seeing any of the sequels

Busta kicked Michael Myers while everyone else was running around screaming!

Thanks for spoiling Halloween: Resurrection for me. Someone should change the topic. Maybe it is a rubbish horror sequel but some people still care.

I am pretty sure I remember that there was an option in her contract where she might possibly return in a sequel. I think it was her choice that she was to be killed off. I might be making this all up, but I believe I remember reading it.

so that she wouldn't have to come back for any more

She was contractually obliged to appear in Halloween: Resurrection. She never wanted to, after H20 she just wanted to have her character live in peace... but the selfish a**holes who only see the dollar sign decided to make a completely worthless horror sequel that ruins every single thing Halloween: H20 stood for (especially its ending) in its first 15 minutes. Bravo.

There's a time limit on how long a movie can be out before you can spoil it without being a jerk. Halloween Resurrection has past that point.

Would you be mad if i told you Darth Vader was Luke's father? Cuz he is!!!! HAHA!!

Thats basically what I heard as well, and agreed with the latter part as well.

They should do a Halloween 9 & bring Josh Hairnett back to be killed off.

Actually, once Josh Hartnett hit it big in Hollywood, he refused to come back to a "low, mediocre" series like Halloween. :whatever: Some stars in Hollywood...
