Superman Returns Why did Lois go inside Lex's boat?

She was being awarded for her article, "Why the World Doesn't need Superman" She went think for her Pulitzer Prize and heard the music coming from the yacht. When she went in is when she was looking for whoever owned the house.

so it would have been better to leave him in the car????
No, it would have been better had she not gone in at all. But okay, I understand that would have made it hard to move the story along, so if I HAVE to snoop around with my child in tow, then given the choice of trespassing on someone's property (where I have NO idea what to expect) and leaving my child in a locked car (after I've looked around and it seemed safe), I'd choose the second option. But then, because of the bad writing, they had to have Lois bring him on the boat simply to reveal he's Superman's son.

Exactly, plus she didn't know there was danger on the boat, she was just snooping around for some answers.

I think that's the point...she DIDN'T KNOW there was danger, so why take a chance with a child?

From the trailer, I thought Lex kidnapped them. Something else could've been done like Lois and son arriving at the estate and Lex seeing them and capturing them, taking them to the boat. Like you said, they wanted to put junior on the boat and it was done a bit awkwardly.

When Lex appears with a toothbrush and spit hanging out of his mouth, it's almost as though the writers realize how absurd the scene is and decide to make fun ofit.

She's there because the ****ing writers of this trash had absolutely no clue on what to do next and simply used an Ex Machina to pull their dumbasses out of the corner they'd written themselves into. Unfortunately the entire movie felt that way from start to finsih. If the New Krypton turns into Brainiac they can officially be classified as ******s in every state. If WB gives these ****ers more money to **** up another Superman movie they will deserve to exit the movie making business.

Lois always does **** like that. That's Lois. ****.

If leaves Jason in the car, then there's a chance she might lose him somehow. She's better off keeping him with her, instead of leaving him in the car......and then IF something bad happens to the car we all call her a bad mother for not keeping him next to her.

Besides, she didn't know the danger going on. She was just as surprised to learn Lex was behind it.

I have no problem with this scene. Lois was looking for the owner of the house for information about a big story. She saw a yacht anchored, with music playing, indicating somene might be aboard listening. So she went to talk to the owner, who would also have been the owner of the house. She took Jason with her, because she was attempting to be a responsible parent. The SECOND she realized who was on the yacht, she tried to leave with Jason.

She's stupid.

No the writers are stupid. Of course since they're gay what to do with a child is probably the last thing on their minds.

Yeah, I thought Lex kidnapped them too judging from the trailer. To me, Lois taking her son to the boat was irresponsible 'coz there was a high chance of danger 'coz well, she doesn't know who's in there (an axe murderer could be inside for all she knows  ). BUT leaving Jason in the car seemed irresponsible too.

She could have just left the place and went back to the Daily Planet but then again, Lois was following her reporter's instincts and must bring her son along in the boat or we wouldn't find out Jason's real father is.

So yeah, I agree with you. Lex seeing them and capturing them and his thugs taking them in the boat would have been a better scenario. SR's writing team messed up in this scene. :down

I am too wondering why Lex doing a "reverse Anna Nicole Smith" didn't make the news in SR. If it did, the press could suspect who's behind in the power outtages in Metropolis. So going back to SR's wrting team again...

I'll admit I completely missed her reasoning for walking onto the boat as well. I didn't drop my popcorn (as someone else mentioned), but I must've had other things on my mind or just stopped paying attention for a second. :)

Because Lois is idiot that's why, a good reporter should be aware of danger at all times, she should have suspected the possibility of someone setting off that EMP on purpose, she should have been aware of the prospect of danger. Grankly brining her son the boat was really stupid too, she could have dropped him off, then went back to the house later, brining Jason on the boat showed she was a bad parent.

I have another question, if the power company knew where the EMP came from, why didn't they investigate?

It was a very out of character moment for THIS version of Lois Lane.

Comic book Lois... cartoon Lois... sure, they would've gone in.

This version of Lois (the only character in the film I did not enjoy) was a very weak and reserved character. I supposed Singer wanted her to be more reserved due to having a child to watch over. And she certainly scares VERY easily.

Yet when she hears music coming from a yacht at the house where she suspects the devestating EMPs have been coming from... she takes her son onboard with her to investigate.

Compared to the rest of the film upto that point, it made no sense for her character.

I was personally amazed at how good Routhe did as Clark... how entertaining Spacey was as Lex... even how good Marsden was as Richard White, a brand new character... yet Lois Lane was just a weak and "oh, whoa is me" character the whole film.

good question. If you figure in that lex luthor lives in that house and caused a blackout, that'd be grounds for some kind of warrent to search his property. very good question:up: I don't know why they didn't.

Dude.....your going to end up banned for **** like that. I mean...that comment adds nothing to this thread, and just sounds like pure bull****.

How does she scare very easily?

Listen....she's a reporter. She wanted to get the story, she went to mansion looking for a lead, went into the Yacht to look for clues, especially since she heard music, and thought the owner might be there.

She obviously didn't know Lex was involved UNTIL she saw the wigs, then she knew she was in deep ****....and tried to bail. By then, it was too late.

Well, Lex was busy........

And, maybe she stopped finding trouble. There's some theory that she would jump into the crap just b/c she knew Superman would always be there for her.

Destiny. It's one of the aspects that makes Superman and Lois so perfect.

I'm pretty sure her going on the boat has something to do with her being a reporter... I'M NOT POSITIVE THOUGH.

Also the fact that she was researching where the blackout orginated from... I mean, it would make sense if she researched the area... no?

Yup.

Plus....she didn't know Lex was involved. By the time she did, it was too late.

....
Should all mothers trespass with their young children into potentially dangerous places like lois does? With their children? Children? Children?

Since when is sneaking into somebody's residence not viewed as a dangerous act? not knowing who's involved is irrelevant. It's a bad idea to do it, especially with your kid in tow. wow...

I'm very confused by the acceptance of her actions. :/

I'm not planning to ever do the parent thing myself, but I worry for some potential kids out there if this is being considered acceptable behavior.

People are not saying that they are wholeheartedly behind what Lois did....they are saying - this is Lois Lane....she always does something stupid and gets in trouble.

oh ok, lee, I know it's her habit to fearlessly leap into danger.

what a mom, though. She's got her pulitzer, a kid she's very worried about, yet the blackout news scoop she's not assigned to is the more important of them. It's weird to watch lois still being so loisy after all these things she's done in her life to me.

She was suspicious at the time and thought that this would be a brief excursion that somewhat stretches legality, like most of the extents she will go to expose the truth. The only thing that made this any different was A) she made the error of bringing Jason with her and B) the yacht was on the verge of leaving shore. She wasn't intentionally endangering Jason or anything. She just wanted to put some of the pieces to this lingering story together. That she won a Pulitzer is not tantamount to figuring out why she went; that Pulitzer was won under the notion that she no longer cared for Superman, an empty award considering she was writing "Why The World Needs Superman" at the film's end. It was just her journalistic instinct to investigate.

Anyways, it all worked out peachy. Had she not made the error of bringing Jason, that guard would have bashed her head in. Jason revealed his superpower of throwing pianos, and then all was right again with the world. :)

oh dear... ok...

ok no prob, you can believe that. No quarrel from me... I believe if she was a better mom etc. she'd be in no danger and there'd be no trespassing on people's boats etc...

oh and i mentioned the pulitzer because it's her motivation from what I've seen of her in the donner/lester movies to be so reckless in her investigating. After winning it, settling down and starting a family, it kind of seems odd that she's still the reckless old self.
