I listened to samples of John Powells score for X3, not bad, but sounds like a mix of Elfman/Williams. I really loved Ottman's Suite for X2 as the main theme and his other peieces esp "Were here to stay", and MYstique's theme among others.
Anyway, I noticed that of Bryan Singer's 5 movies (Suspects,AptPupil, X1,X2, SupesReturns), X1 was the only Singer movie he didnt score.
Was the reason ever disclosed?
Did Fox not have faith in his abilities or did they have Kamen in mind for a long time? Or some other reason?
Thanks for any replies

I heard he was actually DIRECTING a movie at the time, which means he didn't have time to score the film

Yes, he was directing Urban Legends: Final Cut. Michael Kamen (who did the theme for the animated series) was brought aboard.

Apparently Singer didn't like the score and wanted it replaced, but I guess time restraints prevented that.

It was nice to hear a more thematic version of the X-Men theme from Kamen though.

:wow: I always wondered why the theme sounded like the show. Heh now I know.

I love Michael Kamen's music for X-Men. I actually liked it more than Ottman's score for X2.

X-Jet is one of my favorites by Kamen and is easily one of my favorites across all three X-Men scores.

The Logan and Rogue theme is my favourite part of the score.

It sounded very classy, yet had powerful notes behind it.......if that makes much sense, it did in my head.....

Was this or Frequency, Michael Kamens last movie before his passing?:csad:

Yea K-Men's score was by far the best in the x-men movies. And btw Open Range I think was his last score.

Ottman's X2 score was the best one of the trilogy IMO, it had an energy and verve to it that got the blood pumping at the right times and hit the emotional beats at the right times. Its a shame he didnt get to score the whole trilogy.

I thought Shuki Levy and Kussa Machi did the music for the 90's X-Men toon.
I think you're right, at least about Levy. Brian Cronin in his Comic Book Legends Revealed section of CBR did a piece on the X-Men theme tune where he said as much.

The Logan and Rogue theme is my favourite part of the score.
Me too. Very touching.

Definitely one my favorites too.

I remember there was a whole month where I would listen to that theme almost every other day.
