I can see why someone would want Doomsday in the next film, though he is kind of flatly drawn as a monster, but Brainiac? He is leading the poll on the front page last I checked.

Why do people like this character? I just see another bald guy.

I'm curious, I want to know why people like this character. I find nothing interesting about any interpretation I have seen.

I kinda agree, even though I'd just like to see a NEW character. Doomsday, Darkseid, maybe even Metallo seems a more physical, straightforward villain. I suppose Brainiac can be more a puppet master kind of villain (which leads me to believe he could well appear with Zod for the assumed sequel).

But I think if we do see Brainiac, it will be a significantly updated version of him, possibly quite different from the comics.

because he's never been done before, and Zod's getting really old...

Brainiac rocks. Especially if they go with a Terminatrix style of villain from STAS. He's cold, calculating, and logical. He's also powerful enough to throw down with Superman, and there's really no way to completely destroy him, as he can place his data in any machine. Brainiac's only real passion is his lust for knowledge.

True, But you forgot a few things. He is from Krypton, he was the computer for Krypton. It would be a good idea to have him in the next one and come after those crystals that Superman has since it has more of the knowledge that he might not have of Krypton. I could see him come to earth and try to get those crystals.
There is also another reason but I won't say. All I will say is watch the beginning of Superman Returns and see if you see it. I don't know if it was place their by mistake or Brian Singer didn't realize what he did.:)

I read a post in another thread that Brainiac will form out of the crystals left on New Kyrpton. I think that would be a pretty good way to bring him in.

Dude, what is it you are talking about? Post it and let everyone have a go at it! :)

I think Brainiac is a well liked and sought character for the sequel simply because he's not a "brute" sort of speak but rather a pardon the pun, "brainy" adversary for Superman who can give Supes a run for the money. There's alot of neat things they could do with Brainiac in the movie too.

I like the idea of Doomsday also but probably not introduced until the end of the sequel or held off all together for the third sequel...if there is one.

As a matter of fact, I'd love to see the "Death of Superman" mini-series made into a trilogy of big screen films. If done right and if it follows the series closely, would without a doubt imho be the "Star Wars" saga of Superman films.

Besides being a classic villain, he is Superman's number two enemy.

Watch the credits real closely and tell me what you see that is odd. A hardcore Superman fan saw it and showed it too me. Brainiac is in the opening credits but you have to look really closely to see it.

Superman's number two enemy is Darkseid. Brainiac I would rank in fourth or fifth. You have to add Metallo before Brainiacsince he has heart of Kryptonite. You also have to add Parasite before Brainiac because he can drain Superman's powers.

Brainiac knows ALL. This is why Luthor is useless now imo. Mind over muscle can now get an upgrade plz. Now theres mind AND muscle in one.

I based that statement on popularity and how classic a character is. When you take those factors into consideration, Brainiac probably would be considered Superman's number two enemy in that area.

i like Brainiac-- specially the latest Krypton AI incarnation of him-- because he represents the irony of an advanced race destroyed partly out of their own overconfidence and complacency. the danger Braniac poses isnt just the rip-and-smash kind (in which a specie can compensate for by rebuilding) but by a more insidious kind of danger-- oblivion. Braniac seeks to accumulate all data on the specie and then exterminate them, esssentially resulting in the specie to be nothing more than a memory.

and i think that is the most hurtful thing you can do to any one person or race-- is to forget about them. its like saying their entire existence is insignificant. of course in Brainiac's case the reason why he exterminates the specie is so that the value of their memory goes up, which to me adds insult to injury: not only are you forgotten but you're reduced to a piece of property.

thre is so much promise in Braniac being Superman's most formidable foe, but he also represents a unique ability: he's probably the only villain that can literally combine with another to come up with a brand new supervillain. i really like the Brainiac-Luthor combination from the JLU. he's like the perfect character-- has all the benefits of both oragnic and inoraginc life form. but he's specially interesting because "Luthroniac" is evil.

Superman's big three with regard to villains are pretty much Luthor, Brainiac, and then Darkseid in that order. The others you mentioned are probably next with Metallo and Parasite.

Everyone knows this. I'm disappointed that you didn't realize that Brainiac is pretty much the number two villain of Superman.

I'm new here and unfortunately I've never read a comic. I have seen the animated series and all the series about Superman (including Smallville). So I don't really know anything about Darkseid or Doomsday or I can't remember :( Brainiac is to me the most known villain after Lex and Metallo

KANDOR KANDOR KANDOR...... Superman learns he and his son aren't quite as alone as they thought.... and just as Supes would do anything to protect Jason, he decides he will do anything to protect those relatives as well. cool.

I believe if Singer uses the asteroid, cyrstals, and Superman's spilled blood to create a villain it will be Doomsday. Brainiac is cybernetic.

I think the greatest villain in Superman comics is Darkseid. I think Luthor and Brainiac are boring, the brainy gimmick is tired. You could go back to the old comics and find the original Luthor was very much like Brainiac before when he was a mad "scientist." The characters are so much alike that Luthor makes Brainiac pointless in my eyes.

I want a really badass villain like Darkseid to bring Doomsday to Earth resulting in Superman's death in the end of the film and prompting a third film where he is resurrected (no blue lightning or black latex suits) and fights Darkseid. Truthfully, I would do a whole trilogy with Darkseid as the macro villain.

It's a plot to trick us into seeing SR again!

So where would Zod fall into the Top 5. Does he really fall below Darkseid and Brainiac?

No it is not. My friend told me when I saw after the second time. So I found it on the internet and download it. There it was as plain as day, Brainiac during the credits.
