Why do you enjoy comics?

A lot of people are into classic novels, some like other material that has been converted to movies. Feel free to share why you have a love for comics and the films that have been converted for our visual pleasures. A lot of folk don't understand our passion.

Because I love some of the characters dearly, and what is the best way to appreciate and highly enjoy them than to enjoy the source material?
The comic version is often better than most adaptions.
The art you don't see replicated in animation, not even in spirit (i.e: Curt Swan's Superman, Jose Garcia-Lopez Batman.)
And the stories and history in comics is so deep, I love examining it to the fullest I can.

They have a whole lot of engaging and exciting stories with very strong characterizations. The history is so rich deep and so there is a lot of reasons why they are still going strong today!

When you read them and imagine them playing out in your head like a movie,it's as much fun as watching a CBM adaption or playing a game based on the mythologies. The source material is the holy grail!

Caveat: I last read Spawn back in, like 96-97 when I was in third grade. So my tastes may have changed drastically since.
