So I woke up today, excited to grab some new comics. And low and behold, I was in for some disappointment.

Comics shipped today my store didn't have when I arrived:

Civil War 2
Checkmate 3
Green Lantern Corps
Cable and Deadpool 29
Anni Super Skrull 3.
Nightwing 121

However, they did have a 1:75 variant of Civil War 2. Which means they were supposed to of had at least 75 other copies. My comic store isn't that popular, so theres no way they sold out. However, as usual, the price on the 1:75 variant was outstanding. At first thought you'de think 150$ would be the max they'de try to cash out of it. Oh no dear friends, they wanted $500 for it. And whats worse is that I guess someone bought it, as I went there twice seeings as I forgot GLC and Checkmate3 were comming out today, second time it was gone.

Then that persons crazy....I would never ever spend that much on a book that wasn't Golden or Silver Age.

That what mine are always at for variants. I might get it.

I don't buy new comics fer $15. Only once, and that was to support a new publisher and a returnin' franchise.

My comic shop missed some comics a couple weeks this month for one of the first times, because UPS sent a box of comics to a different city by mistake. They are so cool, and it wasnt' there fault; so, I didn't mind. Now, charging high fees for variants is a crime, in my opinion. Heck, if they get them for the same price as the regular comics, they are saying, "We are more concerned about money than doing something for our customers."

I get 20% off $20 or more, so I say what the hell. i really only do it though when its a cover i love. Therre was a Wolverine one I while back during Mark Millar's run that I loved, and the Hawkeye one from HoM. I don't do That much only with characters I really like and if the cover looks real cool.

Feh, I get a discount too, but still...too much to pay fer a new book, even if it does have a cover I like. I rather just get th' posters.

my shop only wanted $20, your store's a price gauger

where is it and what's it's name?

if you regularly buy that many comics, how come you don't have a subscription folder so your books are garaunteed

That is the best thing to do if you buy a lot of books. You're pretty much guaranteed what you want will be there waiting for you that way.

Well, provided they get it in in the first place. :o

Yah, my LCS had a big problem with getting in their comics. I don't know who's fault it was, but I eventually stopped going there after spending almost $200 a month (no discount except free bags and boards).

i had a 1 year subscription to UXM and Astonishing for a while. i have around 6 of each....... my post office sux :(

i dont like it when they are ********s as well. I know it goes with the whole cliche of being a fanboy but i think if you own or work in a comic shop you should be a bloody professional.

I was looking at a POWERS trade a few weeks ago and this guy walked up to me and said if i didnt put it down or buy it I would have to leave the store. Never read powers before, just skimming it and then he had his eye on me for the next ten minutes and when i bought my comics he was a real prick.

You guys ever go into a nice bookstore like borders or somewhere like that and you can grab a book of the shelf, get a coffee and sit down? Imagine if the comic industry was big enough to support that kind of environment.

Wouldnt it be nice?

At least you lucky bastards have shops. Stop complaining.

I'm aware that there's an unfortunate pattern of unpleasant comicshop employees across the country, although I've been lucky with most of my personal experiences. My shop is fantatic

But I've also seen and heard comic readers ***** and moan about the most ridiculous ****ing things that it is completely stupid for them to be upset about. Like this one guy told me he was in a store once where there was a sign that said back issues were cover price if not marked with another price. He went through the bins and found a bunch of the first 15 or so issues of Ultimate Spider-Man, which're all $20 books or so, that they'd forgotten to price. So he brings them to the counter and the guy says "oops! these weren't priced" and procedes to look up their value and price them correctly. And this customer who was relating this story was actually upset that the guy did not sell them to him for their $2.25 cover price, or offer him any sort of discount. The guy made a simple mistake, but that doesn't mean you get to screw him out of the money those books are worth. If he HAD been stupid enough to sell him the books for cheap, this guy would have been bragging about how he ****ed that guy over.

My comic store is a week or two behind. What comes out on the 7th they get on the 14th or 21st. Now, I drive an extra hour out of my way to not go to this store for that reason. Is that excessive?

That is completely ridiculous. Have you ever asked WHY they're a week behind?

So, did anybody buy the variant? I wasn't going to, but ended up giving in on saturday.:( I couldn't help it. I have a addiction.

maybe the comic store thats late -- that guys from england or sumthin?? then agen my stores seem pretty up to date. what i hate is comic shops that dont order enough of comics. like 1 of an issue theyre not sure about. i cant guarantee im gonna come buy every week/month etc cos of e-bay and other subscriptions so i dont wana reserve comics but my comic shop never seems to have "the good ones"

today, went to get eternals 1. they had about 10.alllll reserved. fine. but they only had a couple to sale originally and then when i asked for it the shop workers friend who was just lookin asked and then the shop worker said "its alright i'll let u have one of those". what a ****in cheek! he only asked cos i asked. who do i havta sleep with around here for a ****in comic?? sigh..

My shop is always reliable and I get a killer discount. Only kicker is I have to travel farther, and there's one shop right down the street from me, but the one I go to regularly is so much better.

I don't have a subscription folder cause, according to them, you have to be "A weekly customer for at least 4 years"

****ing hate the store. BTW; Emerald City II in Clearwater/Safety Harbor if you were wondering
