I'm missing alot of issues during the clone saga period...And now I'm actually craving a collection of the thing. Just to have it. I know it was hated and all, but as a Spidey freak - I would love a huge volume with the entire saga on my shelf....Who's with me?

It is a MASSIVE storyline. It would take at least 5 omnibus to complete it.
Remember it lasted about 3 years in multiple Spidey titles.

EDIT:
Ongoings:

* Web of Spider-Man #117–129, and its replacement, Sensational Spider-Man #0–11
* Amazing Spider-Man #394–418
* Spider-Man #51–75
* Spectacular Spider-Man #217–240
* Spider-Man Unlimited (Vol. 1) #7–14
* Peter Parker: Spider-Man

* Furthermore, all five titles except Peter Parker: Spider-man were temporarily renamed with "Scarlet Spider" in place of "Spider-Man" for two months, in imitation of the X-Men's "Age of Apocalypse"story arc.

Special one-shots and mini-series:

* Spider-Man: Maximum Clonage Alpha
* Spider-Man: Maximum Clonage Omega
* Spider-Man: The Lost Years
* Spider-Man: The Final Adventure
* Spider-Man: Clone Journals
* Spider-Man: The Parker Years
* Spider-Man: Redemption
* Spider-Man: Jackal Files
* Spider-Man: Dead Man's Hand

Not only that but it was a very controversial title at the time. It helped them land in their bankruptcy that lasted several years.
We're lucky that we have even seen mention of it now, with the ben reily spidey in that x-men miniseries and a story coming in the annual.

They even released a parody of the clone saga "101 ways to end the clone saga". I remember there being a little box that says "Part 1 of 80".

I'd personally love seeing these stories recaptured but their best bet is to release comic DVD's like they have for ASM.

There's no reason it can't be collected on DVD format. And maybe it will be soon. If the past few months are any indication, it's not like Marvel is exactly running away from the clone saga anymore.

...........Depends, they had a deal with "GIT Corp."
But I think they relinquished the rights.

They did an outstanding job in my opinion, even adding the advertisements but alot of the disks have been faulty as well and they were horrible with replacing them. :csad:

I do hope that Marvel gets back on track with the comic dvd's though. Excellent idea.

They should start releasing them as down-loadable software as well. :yay:

I bet Marvel could sell off about 4 or 5 Clone Saga Essentials, with all the books being in chronological order...

:up:

Maybe 3 Omnibus's... when remembering The Clone Saga it seemed to fit into 3 Acts (for me at least).

Agreed it needs to be done doesn't matter if it's big some of that story was the best spidey has been in my lifetime:up:

don't forget the one shot arcs as well.

There's a Kaine side story there somewhere there.

I hate that crap-tastic story with a vengence. It sucked 3 years worth of Spidey books and a LOT of money from me, as I waited for it to get good...which never happened. I actually keep the entire Clone Saga quarantined fromt he rest of my comics, for fear that I will vomit on good comics when spewing on them.

That being said...

It needs to be collected.

This story, as hated as it may be by a majority of folk, is loved and adored by a good amount of people. In fact, some of the readers today grew up on the Clone Saga. It should be collected so that those who care about the characters and situations from it can have a single collection(probably consisting of at LEAST 5 essntials or 3 Omnibi) to enjoy.

Even if they release them in incredibly overpriced collections(like the Spidey 2099 trade), just do it. Get it out there, and make some money off of it, Marvel.

DC doesn't shy away from selling a "Death of Superman" trade, so why should you shy away from a Clone Saga trade or two?

The fact that it is NOT collected is just shameful. It's like saying that those hundred or so issues that som any creators busted their asses on never happened.:csad:

It should be collected in some form, especially since they seem to be bringing it back up full force. With the latest Spidey Annual and now the Web of Spider-Man book featuring Kaine. And that miniseries by Tom Delfaco and Howard Mackie. If Marvel were smart they would do it. They do seem to love making money, heh.

Though I have the entire Clone Saga collection. EVERY ISSUE. All the one shots. The Annuals. The miniseries. Got it all in one long box labeled "Clone Saga". So, yeah, it is very long because it almost overflows my long box.

Though newer readers may be really, REALLY confused because Aunt May dies in # 400, in a VERY TOUCHING STORY I may add and then they will see that she is alive and banging JJJ's dad...so it could set up confusion...though the entire Spidey mythos is confusing now since Brand New Day hit. :oldrazz:

I don't think every single issue needs to be collected, as I'm not sure that's realistic from a business and volume point of view (though I wouldn't be averse!), perhaps in b/w "Essential" form that's more realistic, though.

But for a standard collection - which would still be pretty damn big - it'd best be served by focusing on the issues that pushed the story forward, which was pretty much every issue early on, but when Ben became Spider-Man there were several months worth of extraneous issues and mini-series. Even some of the earlier stuff like PLANET OF THE SYMBIOTES I'm not sure need to be collected in TCS.

I was looking up the wiki on the clone saga yesterday... talk about a nightmare.

The 90's seemed to be an overall dark era for comics. You have the Death of Superman, Batman Knightfall, Age of Apocolypse.

I was not a fan of ANY of those arcs.

I think the best story I read in the 90's was Onslaught, just was not a fan of the conclusion (pocket universe). But as they say, 'no one died in comics... at least not for long'
