:huh::huh::huh:

Tim Burton's films had way more blood than this. I know it's PG13, but most of the deaths were off screen.

Its probably how they kept it a PG13 rating. Well that and the exclusion of cursing.

It was pretty violent, keeping blood off the screen was probably a big factor in getting the PG-13 rating.

I don't think it would have made a difference. most of the violence didn't have to involved blood being spilled. You knew they bled, but you didn't necessarily need to see it.
Lau being burned, Gambols death etc.

If one drop of blood would of appeared the movie would of gotten a rated R

dude, for real? but yes I imagine it has something to do with the rating

You don't need to show blood and gore to have a good effective scene.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!

Because the preface of the movie alone was pushing the PG 13 too far and the Joker's whole sense of killing and guns to kids faces and all the crazy "burning face" stuff and all that, then to add blood????

Burton also had so much CAMP and it was pre 911 so the emotional grip of america and the world in general wasn't quite there yet

Insert your Dark Knight DVD, and press A-B-A-C-A-B-B and you should be good to go.

Yea, but this thread is not about STORYTELLING :whatever:. We're talking about action scenes and violence.

I can agree on the 911 part though.

Blood reflects on the way the story is being told and since the movie was already dark and pushing some serious values of our culture adding blood would have taken it overboard.

As others have said: very little blood kept it from being an R because of the other things the movie had.

im a big gorefiend. it didn't bother me seeing no blood, was gladly compensated by Two-Face.

and there is blood in the movie, on Harvey Dent's pillow case int he hospital. it is dried up

Screw blood.

Im sorry, but was the lack of blood detour the movie from being great? Nope. From being violent and scary when needed? Nope.

So who really cares?

Batman/Bruce Wayne is the only one to show any signs of bleeding (unless you count the Joker's teeth). When he tries to stitch up his wounds he bleeds, and at the end when he is shot by Harvey you see a shot of blood oozing out of him and leaving a trail when he gets up to speak to Gordon.

I think that throughout the entire movie Nolan knew exactly what he wanted to put in, and what was not needed. Obviously, he didn't feel the need to include the actual deaths...we got the point without them. And it was still effective. Brilliant.

The review in Dallas Morning News today said that "it was just a few blood drops away from an R rating". I think that sums it up pretty well.

How about the bank manager? I beleive that he had a nice pool of blood under him.
