Why not a Spider-Man reference in Age Of Ultron?

Would you like a subtle Spider-Man reference in AoU?

It almost happened between ASM/A1 why not again this time? The deal probably was done way before Febuary. It'd be easy to have Stark reading a Daily Bugle newspaper in the reshoots imo

no, because it would annoy me and so far Feige did anything he could to avoid my annoyance

Filming will have wrapped up ages ago. But I guess they could film a quick post credits sequence.

"Hey look, those Ultron drones are climbing up the terrain like that red and blue goofball from Queens."

whoever said it won't happen at all?

i think the possibility is there but we won't know about it. if anything it'll be a surprise at the theater.

Tony: "mebee we shud call thet spider dude to help us"

Cap: "naah"

Thor: "wot's spiders? we don't have those on Asgard"

audience laughs

The film is done. Unless they are short of a post-credits scene, I don't see the point. He'll probably be in Civil War and then have his own movie. They don't need to rush a scene to shoehorn in here.

And, although I don't think anyone's suggested it, the same is true for Ant-Man (although there's more flexibility there).

I don't think the original poster wanted a full scene, small references like placing Oscorp in the skyline or having a character reading The Daily Bugle. Not even direct Spider-Man cameos so much as incorporating little pieces of his world into the MCU. Kind of like Stark Tech was used in The Incredible Hulk minus RDJ's cameo.

There is an idea going around the Spider-Man forums where the after credits scene could be police finding cops tied up by webs with a "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" note. Personally I'd love to see that and this deal didn't happen overnight so it could have been planned by now.

That is perfect! I just might die in the theater seat. lol. That's on the same level as the original post-credits scene with Fury, where he references the Avengers.

If they have one, great. If the film is too far along, so be it. It isn't something to get worked up about.

It would be funny if hulk said something like "hulk hate bugs" just as a quick wink to the camera sort of thing

Between these two films: Avengers AoU and Ant-Man, which needs more buzz?

Clearly using the latter to introduce the idea of Spidey into the MCU is the best choice economically. I would not squeeze him into the story at this late stage, but I would show either a mid- or end- credit stinger teasing him. I would be willing to bet this would actually add a percentage of revenue to that movie's bottom line. In fact, I would not be surprised if that is one reason they finalized the deal when they did...to help Ant-Man.

Added bonus: ants...spiders...interesting coincidence.

But the stinger has always been intended as a surprise. It's not going to generate revenue if no one knows it's there. And would people really watch an entire movie because they're told they'll see 45 seconds of Spider-Man?

It may be a surprise on opening day, if even then, but not afterward.

Also, I have gone to a movie or two I wasn't sure about just to see a trailer and/or a stinger (The Wolverine) and I go to maybe 10 movies a year, maybe less. I am certainly not the only one to have done so.

I would suggest someone visit the Spidey boards to get a flavor of his fans here if one is curious about the passion he inspires, for better or worse. And yes, message boards are not the general movie goer, etc. but word of mouth is important to any movie's success.

The after credits scene will be Spider-Man eating Shawarma alone waiting for the Avengers to give him a call.
